Answer:
Correct answer is
The colonists lost but they caused the British to have significant casualties.
The colonists lost and suffered significant casualties.
Explanation:
The correct option is the third one, as this was the tactical win for the British army, although they had a lot of casualties, over 1 000 altogether. On the other side, colonists had less casualties, but weren't able to defeat the British army.
First option is totally wrong as the British won the battle as we have said.
Second option can be also seen as correct as the colonist had a lot of casualties, but not as much as Britain did, and were defeated.
Fourth is also not correct because colonists had more than 400 casualties.

What is the contour interval ??
Answer:
The contour interval is 15 meters.
Explanation:
A is not correct because if that was the case we would have had much more contour lines, and if the starting point is 15 meters then 5 contour intervals up would have been an elevation of 40 meters, not 90.
B is not correct because is that was the case we wouldn't have had a contour line of 15 meters, as all contour lines would have been tens, like 10, 20, 30, etc.
C is correct because the elevation distance between the contour line of 15 meters and one of 90 meters is 75 meters, and if we divided that by five (the number of contour lines from one to another marking) we get a value of 15 meters.
D is not correct because just as with the interval of 10, there wouldn't have been a contour line 15, but they would have been 20, 40, 60, etc.

Mesmer changed his initial theory of "animal gravitation" to one of "animal magnetism" in 1775. This hypothesis proposed that the unseen fluid of the body behaved magnetically. Mesmer claimed that any magnetic object or skilled individual could activate and control "animal magnetism."
His strategy involved moving or eliminating internal obstacles to free the animal magnetism.

Source: John Josselyn, An Account of Two Voyages to New-England, Made during the Years 1638, 1663
The author of this account went on to become a powerful English Lord.
Native American societies grew strong again after contracting European diseases,
resulting in an increase in Native populations at this time.
Naive Americans in the British colonies experienced a drastic decline in population
due to disease and war brought by Europeans.
New England colonists repaired relationships with Native Americans soon after the
incidents described.
Answer: Native Americans in the British colonies experienced a drastic decline in population due to disease and war brought by Europeans.
Explanation:
Native Americans and indigenous populations around the Americas lost more people to diseases that the Europeans brought than the wars the Europeans visited upon them. It is estimated that the Small Pox and the Plague decimated the Native population, reducing it by an estimated 90%.
The survivors were weak and desolate and so were easily defeated by the Europeans such as the British as seen by the destruction of the Pequots. This was a turning point that allowed the British to easily claim land in the original colonies and establish dominance there.
The reason the events described in this account could be considered a turning point in history was this. C. Naive Americans in the British colonies experienced a drastic decline in population due to disease and war brought by Europeans.
A turning point in history brings about unexpected changes and may usher in events that have wide ramifications.
For example, the English colonists brought diseases, including the Black Death plague, yellow fever, and smallpox to the Natives. These diseases drastically reduced the population of the Natives.
These diseases weakened the Natives more than the Europeans. The Europeans had, over the years, developed herd immunity to some of the diseases. There was no immunity for the Natives. At their first exposure, their populations were badly affected. The wars with the Europeans worsened the situation.
Thus, the events were turning points because they had catastrophic dimensions, especially on the population, and changed the course of history for the Natives.

Write 3-4 paragraphs on the question "What makes Iba Batutta’s journey so important?"
took me awhile
Abu Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Battuta was a Moroccan Muslim scholar and traveler. He was known for his traveling and undertaking excursions called the Rihla. His journeys lasted for a period of almost thirty years, covering nearly the whole of the known Islamic world and beyond. They extended from North Africa, West Africa, Southern Europe and Eastern Europe in the West, to the Middle East, Indian subcontinent, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and China in the East, a distance readily surpassing that of his predecessors. After his travels he returned to Morocco and gave his account of the experience to Ibn Juzay.

Early life and Career:
Abu Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Battuta, was born in Tangier, Morocco, on the 24th of February 1304 C.E. (703 Hijra) during the time of the Marinid dynasty. He was commonly known as Shams ad-Din. His family was of Berber origin and had a tradition of service as judges. After receiving an education in Islamic law, he chose to travel. He left his house in June 1325, when he was twenty one years of age and set off from his hometown initially on a hajj (pilgrimage) to Mecca, a journey that took him 16 months. He continued travelling and did not return to Morocco for at least 24 years. His journeys were mostly by land. To reduce the risk of being attacked, he usually chose to join a caravan. In the town of Sfax, he married. During his travels, he survived wars, shipwrecks, and rebellions.
He first began his voyage by exploring the lands of the Middle East. Thereafter he sailed down the Red Sea to Mecca. He crossed the huge Arabian Desert and traveled to Iraq and Iran. In 1330, he set of again, down the Red Sea to Aden and then to Tanzania. Then in 1332, Ibn Battuta decided to visit India. He was greeted open heartedly by the Sultan of Delhi. There he was appointed to the position of a judge. He stayed in India for a period of 8 years and then left for China. Ibn Battuta left for another adventure in 1352. He then went south, crossed the Sahara desert, and visited the African kingdom of Mali.
Finally, Battuta returned home to Tangier in 1355. It is questionable whether Ibn Battuta visited all the places that he described. In order to provide a comprehensive description of places in the Muslim world, Ibn Battuta probably relied on hearsay evidence and made extensive use of accounts by earlier travelers.
Ibn Battuta reported that he experienced culture shock in some of the regions he visited. The local customs of recently converted people did not fit his orthodox Muslim background. Among Turks and Mongols, he was astonished at the way women behaved. They were allowed freedom of speech. He also felt that the dress customs in the Maldives and some sub-Saharan regions in Africa were too revealing.
Death:
After the completion of the Rihla in 1355, little is known about Ibn Battuta’s life. He was appointed a judge in Morocco and died in 1368. The Rihla provides an important account of many areas of the world in the 14th century.
Explanation:
In June 1325, at the age of twenty-one, Ibn Battuta set off from his hometown on a hajj, or pilgrimage, to Mecca, a journey that would ordinarily take sixteen months. He would not see Morocco again for twenty-four years.
"I set out alone, having neither fellow-traveller in whose companionship I might find cheer, nor caravan whose part I might join, but swayed by an overmastering impulse within me and a desire long-cherished in my bosom to visit these illustrious sanctuaries. So I braced my resolution to quit my dear ones, female and male, and forsook my home as birds forsake their nests. My parents being yet in the bonds of life, it weighed sorely upon me to part from them, and both they and I were afflicted with sorrow at this separation."
He travelled to Mecca overland, following the North African coast across the sultanates of Abd al-Wadid and Hafsid. The route took him through Tlemcen, Béjaïa, and then Tunis, where he stayed for two months. For safety, Ibn Battuta usually joined a caravan to reduce the risk of being robbed. He took a bride in the town of Sfax, the first in a series of marriages that would feature in his travels.

In the early spring of 1326, after a journey of over 3,500 km (2,200 mi), Ibn Battuta arrived at the port of Alexandria, at the time part of the Bahri Mamluk empire. He met two ascetic pious men in Alexandria. One was Sheikh Burhanuddin who is supposed to have foretold the destiny of Ibn Battuta as a world traveller saying "It seems to me that you are fond of foreign travel. You will visit my brother Fariduddin in India, Rukonuddin in Sind and Burhanuddin in China. Convey my greetings to them". Another pious man Sheikh Murshidi interpreted the meaning of a dream of Ibn Battuta that he was meant to be a world traveller.
He spent several weeks visiting sites in the area, and then headed inland to Cairo, the capital of the Mamluk Sultanate and an important city. After spending about a month in Cairo,[20] he embarked on the first of many detours within the relative safety of Mamluk territory. Of the three usual routes to Mecca, Ibn Battuta chose the least-travelled, which involved a journey up the Nile valley, then east to the Red Sea port of Aydhab.Upon approaching the town, however, a local rebellion forced him to turn back.
Ibn Battuta returned to Cairo and took a second side trip, this time to Mamluk-controlled Damascus. During his first trip he had encountered a holy man who prophesied that he would only reach Mecca by travelling through Syria. The diversion held an added advantage; because of the holy places that lay along the way, including Hebron, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem, the Mamluk authorities spared no efforts in keeping the route safe for pilgrims. Without this help many travellers would be robbed and murdered.
After spending the Muslim month of Ramadan in Damascus, he joined a caravan travelling the 1,300 km (810 mi) south to Medina, site of the Mosque of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. After four days in the town, he journeyed on to Mecca, where upon completing his pilgrimage he took the honorific status of El-Hajji. Rather than returning home, Ibn Battuta decided to continue traveling, choosing as his next destination the Ilkhanate, a Mongol Khanate, to the northeast.

Which type of dwelling did the Plains Native Americans live in? a. tipi b. pueblo C. pit house d. grasS-covered portable structure
Answer:
The answer is C
Explanation:
The Native American tribes and First Nation band governments that have historically resided on North America's Interior Plains (the Great Plains and Canadian Prairies) are known as Plains Indians or Indigenous peoples of the Great Plains and Canadian Prairies.
What did the Plains Native Americans live in?Prior to the arrival of the Europeans, hunting-and-farming civilizations have been on the Great Plains for ages, but the region is most known for its horse cultures, which flourished from the 17th century until the late 19th century.
The Plains Indian culture groups have become an ideal in literature and art for Native Americans worldwide because of their historical nomadism and armed resistance to dominance by the governments and military forces of Canada and the United States.
The Plains tribes are typically split into two large categories, some of which overlap.. Following the massive herds of American bison throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, the first group completely transitioned to a nomadic horse culture, while some tribes did periodically practise agriculture.
Arapaho, Assiniboine, Blackfoot, Cheyenne, Comanche, Crow, Gros Ventre, Kiowa, Lakota, Lipan, Plains Apache (or Kiowa Apache), Plains Cree, Plains Ojibwe, Sarsi, Nakoda (Stoney), and Tonkawa are some of these tribes.

Why did Christians launch the Reconquista?
They wanted to conquer independent Portugal.
They wanted to challenge the authority of church leaders.
They wanted to regain control of the Iberian Peninsula.
They wanted to fight alongside Muslims to defeat a common enemy.
Answer: C.
Explanation:
Glad to help! :)
Answer:
C
Explanation:
Muslims controlled both North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula.
In response to Muslim control of the Iberian Peninsula Christians launched the Reconquista.
The Reconquista was a period of time where Christian armies tried to take control of the Iberian Peninsula from Muslim rulers.
It started in 718 and lasted for more than 700 years.
As you can see here, after 300 years of fighting, Muslims still controlled much of the peninsula, all of this orange area.
However, several Christian kingdoms, including Leon, Castile, and Navarre, had gained land.
This fighting for control of the peninsula was an extremely long war.
Both Christians and Muslims won and lost many battles through the years.
As you can imagine, since the fighting was between Muslims and Christians, the church got involved.
One reason Christians struggled to take control of the Iberian Peninsula from Muslim rulers was that Christian areas often lacked unity.
Sometimes different Christian kingdoms on the peninsula fought one another rather than Muslim groups.
The battles produced many heroes, including El Cid Campeador
El Cid Campeador is considered a national hero in Spain for his involvement in the Reconquista.
By the 1100s, the Reconquista had received more support from the church.
The church recruited soldiers for the cause and dedicated church taxes to fund armies.
The last Muslim state on the Iberian Peninsula was defeated in 1492.
