Now let's think about a balloon. We know the gas particles inside of the balloon are bumping against the sides. What keeps those gas particles from forcing the balloon to expand

Answers

Answer 1

The elasticity of the balloon's material keeps the 1particles from forcing it to expand. The material stretches as the gas particles bump against the sides, allowing the balloon to expand to a certain point before contracting again.

The elasticity of the balloon's material is an important factor in determining the balloon's shape and size. In general, the more elastic the material is, the more the balloon will be able to stretch and expand. When the material is not elastic enough, it will not be able to stretch and the balloon will remain in its original shape.

The elasticity of the material also affects the amount of air pressure within the balloon. A more elastic material will be able to hold more air pressure, while a less elastic material will not be able to hold as much pressure. This is why balloons with a higher pressure will usually be larger than balloons with a lower pressure.

In order to answer this question, we must look at the experimental design and assess how air resistance would affect the scientists' computations. The ball's velocity would be reduced as it moved from the mound to home plate, where the velocity was measured, due to air resistance.

Therefore, the measured velocity ought to be lower than the release velocity. As a result of the baseball's predicted energy being lower due to the lowered velocity, the efficiency of the energy transfer from the arm to the ball will also be lower.

Conservation of energy is not saving energy. The law of conservation of energy says that energy is neither created nor destroyed. When we use energy, it doesn’t disappear. We change it from one form of energy into another.

A car engine burns gasoline, converting the chemical energy in gasoline into mechanical energy. Solar cells change radiant energy into electrical energy. Energy changes form, but the total amount of energy in the universe stays the same.

a mass m is moving horizontally across a frictionless floor with velocity v. The mass now encounters

Answers

Option B is V2/Mg  gives the total distance travelled by the mass before it is slowed to a stop by friction

The total distance traveled by the mass before it is slowed to a stop by friction can be determined by calculating the work done by the force of friction on the mass. As we have seen before, the force of friction acting on the mass is given by the equation F = friction = umg.

Now, the work done by the force of friction on the mass is given by W = Fd. Using the definition of force of friction and assuming that the final velocity of the mass is zero, we can write the following equation:

umgd = (1/2)mv^2

Dividing both sides by m*g and simplifying the equation we get:

d = (1/2) * u^-1 *v^2 /g

If we compare this expression with the options provided, we can see that it matches with option B: V^2/Mg. Therefore, the total distance traveled by the mass before it is slowed to a stop by friction is given by V^2/Mg.

A elastic spring is compressed by an amount x. Show that its P.E. is 1/2 kx2
where k is the spring constant.

Answers

Answer:

The potential energy (P.E.) stored in an elastic spring is equal to the work done in compressing or stretching the spring.

When a spring is compressed or stretched, the force required to do so is given by Hooke's law, which states that the force F required to compress or stretch a spring by an amount x is given by

F = kx, where k is the spring constant.

The work done in compressing or stretching a spring is equal to the force required to do so multiplied by the distance over which the force is applied.

In the case of a spring, this distance is equal to the amount x by which the spring is compressed or stretched.

Therefore, the work done in compressing or stretching a spring is given by

W = Fd = kx * x = kx^2.

The potential energy stored in the spring is equal to the work done to compress or stretch it.

Therefore, the potential energy of a spring that is compressed by an amount x is given by P.E. = W = kx^2.

Substituting kx^2 = 1/2 kx^2, we find that

P.E. = 1/2 kx^2.

This shows that the potential energy stored in an elastic spring is equal to 1/2 times the spring constant multiplied by the amount x by which the spring is compressed or stretched.

What is the radius of the event horizon of this 10-Solar-mass black hole, in units of kilometers (km)

Answers

The radius of the event horizon of a 10-Solar-mass black hole is 2950 kilometers.

How do you calculate the radius of the event horizon?

The radius of the event horizon of a black hole is known as the Schwarzschild radius and it is a function of the mass of the black hole. The Schwarzschild radius is given by the formula:

r = 2GM/c^2

where

r = radius of the event horizon (in meters)

G = gravitational constant (6.674 x 10^-11 N*(m/kg)^2)

M = mass of the black hole (in kg)

c = speed of light in a vacuum (2.998 x 10^8 m/s)

For a 10-Solar-mass black hole, we can use the mass conversion factor 1 Solar mass = 1.989 x 10^30 kg.

M = 10 x 1.989 x 10^30 kg

Now, we can substitute the values into the formula

r = 2 x 6.674 x 10^-11 x M/ (2.998 x 10^8)^2

r = 2GM/c^2 = 2 x 6.674 x 10^-11 x (10 x 1.989 x 10^30) / (2.998 x 10^8)^2

r = 2.95 x 10^3 m = 2950 kilometers

So, the radius of the event horizon of a 10-Solar-mass black hole is 2950 kilometers.

What is the time period of an oscillation?

The time taken for an oscillating particle to complete one cycle of oscillation is known as the Period of oscillating particle.

Given :

A 0.480-kg mass suspended from a spring oscillates with a period of 1.50 s.

The formula of the time period is given by:
