what is y?
4y-2x+6=26
how do i show my work?

Answers

Answer 1

im not sure if im correct but y could be 6 because if u multiply 4 by 6 its 24 and x is 2 so 2 times 2 is 4 and if we subtract 4 from 24 its 20 plus 6 its equals 26

how to show work:

y=6 x=2

4y - 2x + 6 = 26

4x6=24 - 2x +6 =26

24 - 2x2=4 +6 =26

24 - 4 + 6=26

^^ im not sure if that makes sense but that pretty much sums it up

x = -3: [tex]y = 10[/tex], x = -2: [tex]y = 4[/tex], x = -1: [tex]y = 0[/tex], x = 0: [tex]y = -2[/tex], x = 1: [tex]y = -2[/tex], x = 2: [tex]y = 0[/tex], x = 3: [tex]y = 4[/tex]

Step-by-step explanation:

Let [tex]y = x^{2}-x-2[/tex], where [tex]x[/tex] and [tex]y[/tex] are the independent and dependent variables, respectively. The approach consists in evaluating the function at values presented in statement:

x = -3

[tex]y = (-3)^{2}-(-3)-2[/tex]

[tex]y = 10[/tex]

x = -2

[tex]y = (-2)^{2}-(-2)-2[/tex]

[tex]y = 4[/tex]

x = -1

[tex]y = (-1)^{2}-(-1)-2[/tex]

[tex]y = 0[/tex]

x = 0

[tex]y = (0)^{2}-(0)-2[/tex]

[tex]y = -2[/tex]

x = 1

[tex]y = (1)^{2}-(1)-2[/tex]

[tex]y = -2[/tex]

x = 2

How much of a radioactive kind of antimony will be left after 120 days if you start with 904 grams and the half-life is 60 days?

Answers

Answer:  226 grams

==========================================

Explanation:

1/2 = 0.5

Every 60 days, the amount cuts in half.

We start with 904 grams and after 60 days, we have 904*0.5 = 452 grams left over.

After another 60 days, we have 452*0.5 = 226 grams left over.

-------------

Alternative Method:

We can apply the half-life formula.

y = a*(0.5)^(x/H)

where,

y = final amount after x daysa = initial amountx = number of days that elapseH = number of days in a half-life

In this case,

a = 904 is the starting amountH = 60 is the number of days until another half-life occurs

When x = 120 days go by, we have....

y = a*(0.5)^(x/H)

y = 904*(0.5)^(x/60)

y = 904*(0.5)^(120/60)

y = 904*(0.5)^(2)

y = 904*(0.25)

y = 226 grams of antimony left over.

This method is preferred over the first method if you have x be some non-multiple of 60, or if x is fairly large.

What is an Equation?

Equations are mathematical statements with two algebraic expressions flanking the equals (=) sign on either side.

It demonstrates the equality of the relationship between the expressions printed on the left and right sides.

Coefficients, variables, operators, constants, terms, expressions, and the equal to sign are some of the components of an equation. The "=" sign and terms on both sides must always be present when writing an equation.

Given data ,

Let the cost of 2 pencils be = A

Now , the equation will be

The cost of 6 pencils is = 36 cents

So ,

The cost of one pencil is = cost of 6 pencils / 6

The cost of one pencil is = 36 / 6

The cost of one pencil is = 6 cents

And , the cost of 2 pencils is calculated by the equation

The cost of two pencils is A = cost of one pencil x 2

The cost of two pencils is A = 6 x 2

The cost of two pencils is A = 12 cents

Therefore , the value of A is 12 cents

Hence , The cost of 2 pencils is 12 cents
