Evaluate the extent to which the federal government's policy toward native americans changed in the period from 1865 to 1900

Answers

The federal government's policy toward native americans changed in the period from 1865 to 1900 because they need to ensure the tribe went to the new allocated lands.

How did the federal government's policy towards Native Americans change in 1850's?

Following the removal of Native Americans from their homelands, the federal government restricted tribal members to reservations, which are legally defined areas of land allocated to federally recognized tribes. For the United States, removal and settlement on reservations served two purposes.

First, it cleared Native American land to allow for western expansion. Second, it enabled the United States to carry out a program of Americanizing Tribes into small farmer communities. Neither of these objectives was ever fully realized. As a result, tribal members who lived on reservation lands frequently became reliant on food rations provided by the federal government.

C. The majority of citizens in the country are contributing to the economy
D. There are very few citizens who are currently retired
E. None of the above

Answer:

E.

Explanation:

The dependency ratio can be defined as the number of people who are too young (0-14) or too old (65+) to work compared with the population of working age (15-64).

A country with a high dependency ratio means a great economic burden on the working people and also indicates the economic instability of the country.

3. In your own words, describe the “gulags” were after you watch the film.

The Soviet Union pre-WWII
Joseph Stalin was born in Georgia, a country just south of Russia. He joined the Russian Bolshevik revolutionaries who were a group of people that followed communist ideals. Stalin led riots and strikes and raised money by robbing banks and committing other crimes. Soon Stalin became close to Vladimir Lenin (Soviet Russian Communist leader). In 1917, the Russian Revolution took place when the government led by the Tsars (royal family) was overthrown and the Bolsheviks came into power. Russia was now called the Soviet Union and Joseph Stalin was a major leader in government.

After Lenin's death, Stalin took over as the dictator of the Soviet Union. Stalin decided that the country should move away from agriculture and become industrialized. He had factories built through the country. The Soviet government controlled the economy and took over all farms, limiting the amount of food. Stalin would not supply food in some areas of the country to starve those that he no longer wanted to live. Stalin was responsible for the deaths of over 20 million of his own people! Stalin had secret police who spied on people. He had anyone that did not agree with him killed. Stalin put anyone who could be seen as an enemy in the gulags (prison camps) without a trial, where they faced hard labor and terrible conditions.
Stalin attempted to rewrite history books about himself, renamed cities in his name, put up numerous statues of himself, and had songs and art dedicated to him. Throughout his rule he ordered millions of people he thought were against him to be killed or put into slave labor camps. At the start of World War II, Stalin formed an alliance with Adolf Hitler and Germany. However, the Germans made a surprise attack on the Soviet Union in 1941. In order to fight off the Germans, Stalin joined the Allied countries. After World War II, Stalin set up governments in the Eastern European countries that the Soviet Union had "freed" from Germany. These governments were under control by the Soviet Union. This started the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States.

Answers

Answer: Stalinism in the Soviet Union.

Explanation:

To show his absolutist rule, Stalin brutally dealt with dissidents. Many criminal acts and lawlessness marred his coming to power. With his coming to power, history teaches us that all dictators used similar methods to come to power. Propaganda, confrontation with dissidents, especially political ones, are methods used to gain control. The Gulag was placed, more precisely, camps, to which he sent all those whom he even suspected posed a threat. Based on the film, it can be concluded that these people lived in catastrophic conditions where daily temperatures dropped far below zero degrees. Also, based on the film, it is possible to figure that many people ended up in the camp without trial.
