Answer: Here is what I have done so far.

Eliminate "Once upon a time" because that is the beginning of a fairy tale. This is a short story.  The story should be broken down into paragraphs

One day a girl moved into a cabin in the woods with her grandmother. She had always loved the woods. Her name is Melody, and it suited her perfectly. Melody enjoyed watching animals and nature. Most of her days and nights Melody spent them wandering around in the woods watching the animals. Melody’s grandmother she was getting older and couldn't do much by herself anymore.

(A comment here: When you mention “the second day” it implies that Melody has just recently moved in with her grandmother. That is why I made some changes in the first paragraph.)

On her second day, Melody went into town to get some food and supplies that she and grandmother needed. It was a very lovely day, but then after a while she noticed some storm clouds were heading in. Normally, Melody loves the rain, but she hoped it woudn't start until after she got home. Melody went into a store and bought some food and a first aid kit, because when you are running around in the woods you might get hurt.

On her way back home Melody walked around the corner and there was a momma deer and baby deer. [and} She came to a stop. The deer were looking at her and she was looking at them for a few minutes Melody was overcome with excitement. She had only seen a buck before. Melody was thinking {avoid "to herself" unless thinking to someone else is possible! }that they were beautiful deer[}("deer" is both singular and plural) The mama and baby deer started running to get away and then Melody started running after them. She couldn't catch up with the deer[]; they were way to fast for her. (A semicolon is a good punctuation to separate one clause from another, but not too much!)

She ended up running into a beautiful pond with fish and frogs in the pond. The pond had beautiful flowers, and lots of beautiful wildlife trees, animals and different kinds of plants. The baby deer ended up *getting a scratch* from one of the plants so, she tried to help the deer but it wouldn't let her at first. But [then] This would be a good place to expand the story. Tell how she had to calmly approach the deer, ?does Melody sing to the deer, or make cooing sounds? Does she offer the deer some corn or sunflower seeds from the groceries? or how mama deer tried to scare her off, or how she was able to keep the deer calm as she applied the first aid, or how the baby --call it a fawn, and call the mother a doe-- responded after the treatment? eventually she was able to help the baby deer with his scratch. Then Melody ran home to put the groceries away and sat down and told her grandmother about her amazing adventure that she had experienced. " Does she hope to see the deer near the pond again?

Explanation:

Basically a good story. Italics are words corrected or that I added.

The story needs to build to a climax-- probably when Melody is finally able to apply first aid to the *scratch-- Maybe that should be a cut that is bleeding--

*Details to fix in the lead-up to make the story more realistic: Deer have fur that protects them from ordinary thistles and thorns. Maybe there was an old barbed-wire fence that cut the fawn as it tried to leap over it, or a broken mirror on an abandonned car that the fawn ran into. . .

Richard Connell's "The Most Dangerous Game" is a very exciting story of a manhunt. This story made me think about the morality of hunting: Humans are the cleverest creatures on earth, but does it give them a license to kill the other animals and even human beings weaker than themselves? I give below a short summary of the story to set the scene and then I will explore the ethics involved in hunting as a sport. "The Most Dangerous Game" presents the story of a hunter, General

Zaroff, who finds hunting human beings as the most dangerous and fascinating sport. He likes hunting humans because human beings, unlike the other animals, can reason better and so provide a richer thrill for the hunter. He does not think hunting human…show more content…

Our knowledge of ecology also teaches us that by killing animals we may be tampering with the delicate ecosystem and inviting our own destruction.

Human beings are probably the most intelligent creatures on earth. That is why they have a great responsibility of keeping intact the life of the earth. Indiscriminate killing for sport is an uncivilized and anti-intellectual activity, because we should share this world with the other animals and live in harmony with them.

The Most Dangerous Game is a short story about a hunter named Sanger Rainsford who is marooned on an island after accidentally falling off a yacht. The yacht that Rainsford was on was headed towards Rio de Janeiro before he fell off. The crew was looking forward to hunting jaguar along the Amazon river. After Rainford falls, he frantically swims to the nearest island in search of food and shelter. However this deserted island is not an ordinary island. Rainsford discovers that Ivan, a Cossack, who is very large and strong, and General Zaroff, who is an expert hunter, inhabit the island. Rainsford soon realizes that the general uses this island as a hunting ground for human beings as he no longer finds pleasure in hunting animals. The General has developed a game in which he gives humans a chance to run away and hide on his island while he has three days to hunt and kill them. .

The setting of the story begins on a yacht that is traveling near the Amazon River on its way to Rio. The time is just after the Russian Revolution of 1917.

The protagonist in this book is Rainsford. He has to overcome the challenge of being hunted by another man. He has to use his wits, judgment and skills in order to overcome his fear of being killed by the general. Rainsford is also a very good hunter and has written many books on the subject that have been read by the general himself. Rainsford's hunting skills prove to be a necessity on the island.

The conflict in this story is Man vs. Man. Rainsford is competing against the General in order to stay alive. He must fool the general in order to win the game and be returned to his homeland. There is also a man vs. himself conflict in this story because Rainsford must not let his nerves and fears get the better of him during the hunt.

The theme in this story is that "All people are equal." General Zaroff thinks that all people are not equal and that the strong should live off of the weak or poor and benefit from them.

"The Most Dangerous Game", reprinted as "The Hounds of Zaroff", is a short story by Richard Connell, first published in Collier's on January 19, 1924, with illustrations from Wilmot Emerton Heitland.

What is the story of the Most Dangerous Game?

The most dangerous sport is that of a man who claims to hunt animals for pleasure and then is hunted. Sanger Rainsford is hunted by General Zaroff on Ship Trap Island for sporting purposes, and eventually becomes a victim of his hunting.

What are some reasons some scientist backed up the idea of plate movement

Answers

Answer:

The theory of plate tectonics is based on a broad synthesis of geologic and geophysical data. It is now almost universally accepted, and its adoption represents a true scientific revolution, analogous in its consequences to quantum mechanics in physics or the discovery of the genetic code in biology. Incorporating the much older idea of continental drift, as well as the concept of seafloor spreading, the theory of plate tectonics has provided an overarching framework in which to describe the past geography of continents and oceans, the processes controlling creation and destruction of landforms, and the evolution of Earth’s crust, atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and climates. During the late 20th and early 21st centuries, it became apparent that plate-tectonic processes profoundly influence the composition of Earth’s atmosphere and oceans, serve as a prime cause of long-term climate change, and make significant contributions to the chemical and physical environment in which life evolves.
