What happens to Becky? in chapter 13 of tom sawyer

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Tom decides that, unloved, he must run away and go into a life of crime. He happens on Joe Harper, who also seems upset: "Plainly, here were 'two souls with but a single thought.'" Chapter 13, pg. 80 Joe has just been whipped by his mother. Tom convinces him they should become pirates. They find Huck and make plans to head for Jackson's Island. They agree to meet at midnight. The rest of the day, they tell no one what they have planned, although they all hint that something is about to happen. At midnight, they take a raft and some fire and go to the island. As they sail down the river, Tom looks at the village and imagines Becky seeing him leave to live a pirate's life.

The boys land on a sandbar at the top of the island and leave the raft. They go into the forest and make a fire and get ready to camp. They eat some food they stole from town, and talk about how great being a pirate is. Huck makes a pipe out of a corncob and smokes. Tom and Joe tell Huck all the things pirates do--capture ships and treasure, kill men, kidnap women, and dress in fancy clothes. Huck is embarrassed at his rags, but Tom and Joe tell him that they will get fancy clothes later. Huck falls asleep quickly. Tom and Joe have more trouble. Although they don't talk, they both feel guilty about running away and stealing, because the Bible commands against it. It is only after they both decide that they won't steal again that they fall asleep.

Stage directions refer to the specific activities that must be carried out in order for a play to be accurately rendered. Examples are:

How the Lighting must be doneCostumes to be wornMusic to be played and how, etc.

Without stage directions, the play would most likely be acted out in a way that is completely different from the intent of the writer.

DEATH BE NOT PROUD?

What is the tone of the poem? Use multiple pieces of evidence from the text to support your response.

Answers

Answer:

This will mean that it isn't a thing to be proud of.

Explanation:

My answer will define that dying is sleeping forever, and it's not a mind-blowing idea just to make yourself die. The reason the tone "Death be not proud" exists, is because we want to live eternally. We do not want to shorten (or try to get rid) of our lives. But, to be a little bit concise, this 'underrated' tone is important because here; let's look at the last sentence of the poem.

So, "And death shall be no more" means that we should or WILL live longer. For example, your parents that did so much for you. Maybe your grandparents. I'll suggest living longer is 100% a better idea, so you could bear your mind, or your brain with it to think about it maybe more than once.

What is the tone of cassius’s speech? which line best supports this tone?

Answers

Answer:

What is the tone of Cassius’s speech?

✔ defeated

Which line best supports this tone?

✔ “aweary of the world”

Explanation:

Cassius's speech in William Shakespeare's play "Julius Caesar" varies in tone throughout, but it can generally be described as persuasive and manipulative.

Who is Cassius?

Cassius is trying to convince Brutus to join the conspiracy to assassinate Caesar, and he uses a range of tactics to sway him to his side.

One line that best supports this tone is "Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world / Like a Colossus, and we petty men / Walk under his huge legs and peep about" (Act I, Scene 2). This line shows Cassius using flattery to appeal to Brutus's sense of pride and encourage him to see Caesar as a threat to their own power and influence.

Throughout his speech, Cassius also employs rhetorical questions, emotional appeals, and appeals to Brutus's sense of duty to persuade him to take action against Caesar.
