Seth was determined to murder his brother, he organised a party and invited Osiris. When the party was going on Seth brought out the chest and organised a game of who would fit perfectly into the chest. Seth's friends entered the chest one by one but none of them could fit into it. Osiris was made to enter the chest after which Seth and his friends quickly locked it and took it to the river to dump it there. After a brief while in the chest Osiris suffocated and died.
On hearing the news about the death of her husband, Isis searched for the chest inorder to perform proper burial rites so that Osiris could pass into the Afterlife. She then hid the chest to return back the next day. Seth decided to search for the chest to confirm if his brother was really dead, he went to the river but couldn't find it, he searched everywhere and finally found the chest. Seth decided to cut the body into pieces so that Osiris will not be able to pass into the Afterlife.
Isis came back the next day to perform the ritual rites, she could not find the chest where she hid it, using her great powers she transformed into a big bird and then flew around to search for the body. Isis was able to locate the pieces, with the help of her sisters they attached the pieces back together and brought Osiris back to life.
Osiris was so happy to see his wife, he told her that he could no longer stay in the world of the living. Osiris informed his wife that she was pregnant with a boy who will one day defeat his evil brother to become the ruler of Egypt.
