O Anaya structures his excerpt as an analysis, while Nye structures her excerpt as an observation.

•Anaya structures his excerpt as an observation, while Nye structures her excerpt as an analysis.

•Anaya structures his excerpt as a rhetorical appeal, while Nye structures her excerpt as an anecdote.

Answers

Answer:

O Anaya structures his excerpt as an analysis, while Nye structures her excerpt as an observation.

Explanation:

In the first excerpt, Rudolfo Anaya presents a case of his friend who decided to 'remove' his heritage, his Latin background just to get accepted for a scholarship. And in this act, Anaya observes that his friend "took out his native language, the poetic patois of our reality . . . took the soul out of his poetry." This shows his analysis of what he saw and thinks is happening, giving his opinion.

On the other hand, Naomi Shihab Nye structures "Speaking Arabic" as an observation of what she saw. She describes the young man's declaration of wanting a heritage among the "tall America trees" while in a Texas fair in between the "German Oom-pah Sausage Stand and the Mexican Gorditas booth". The excerpt is an observation of what she saw at that time and place.

Thus, the correct answer is that Anaya structures his excerpt as an analysis while Nye's is an observation.

A. publication of "Ann Landers" ceased in 2002.
B. Margo was angry her mother didn't pass "Ann Landers" on.
C. Margo now writes the "Dear Abby" column, too.
D. Lederer started "Ann Landers" to compete with "Dear Abby."

Passage: Few people probably would have guessed that identical twin sisters Esther "Eppie" Pauline Friedman Lederer and Pauline “Popo” Esther Friedman Phillips would grow up to become two of the most influential advice columnists in the world. “Dear Abby” and “Ann Landers” were both known by their millions of daily readers for their quick wit and sage wisdom. The pair grew up in Sioux City, Iowa and attended Morningside College where they both worked on the newspaper staff. In 1939, at the age of 21, the Friedman sisters married in a joint ceremony. The original “Ann Landers” was started in 1942 by a nurse named Ruth Crowley. She wrote the column until her death in 1955. After she won a contest, Esther Lederer assumed the “Ann Landers” pen name and eventually won the copyright to it. Pauline Phillips founded “Dear Abby” in 1956. A rift between the twins developed when Life magazine reported that Phillips had offered the column to the Sioux City Journal at a discounted rate if it agreed not to run “Ann Landers.” Although they publicly reconciled in 1964, it is said the bitter rivalry continued behind closed doors for decades. In 1995, Phillips began to suffer from the onset of Alzheimer’s disease and her daughter, Jeanine, assumed the Abigail Van Buren pen name. “Dear Abby” has been in publication for more than 50 years and still read daily by more than 110 million people. Lederer was in good health most of her life and wrote “Ann Landers” until her death in 2002. She chose not to have another writer assume the pen name. Jeanine Phillips wrote a tribute to “Ann Landers” in “Dear Abby” shortly after her passing. Lederer’s daughter, Margo Howard, said the women had not been in contact for years, and she believes Phillips just wrote the tribute for money. Howard wrote an advice column of her own called “Dear Prudence” for several years. Currently, she pens “Dear Margo.”

What are the following amounts of energy in joules? a) 20 kj b) 10 MJ c) 2.5 MJ d) 2000 J e) 0.5 kj

Answers

Answer:

10 MJ i am pretty sure

Explanation:

One joule represents a relatively small amount of energy; it takes roughly 100,000 J (10^5 J) to heat a cup of water from room temperature to its boiling point under standard conditions. Often, kilojoules (kJ) are used, kJ = 10^3 J.

The amount of energy in joules in the following are as follows: a. 20 KJ = 20,000 Joules, b. 10 MJ = 10 × 10⁵ Joules, c. 2.5 MJ = 2.5 × 10⁵ Joules, d. 2000 J = 2000 Joules, e. 0.5 KJ = 500 Joules.

What is the unit of Energy?

The SI unit of energy or work is the Joule (J). It was named for the English physicist James Prescott Joule (1818 - 1889). Joule discovered the relationship between heat energy and mechanical work, which led to the development of the laws of thermodynamics.

The unit conversion of the following amounts of energy into Joules are as follows:

a. 20 KJ = 20 × 1000 Joules = 20,000 Joules ( 1KJ = 1000 Joules)

b. 10 MJ = 10 × 10⁵ Joules = 10⁶ Joules ( 1 MJ = 10⁵ Joules)

c. 2.5 MJ = 2.5 × 10⁵ Joules = 2,50,000 Joules

d. 2000 J = 2000 Joules

e. 0.5 KJ = 0.5 × 1000 Joules = 500 Joules

Answers

Answer:

The connection the author drew between self-esteem and ideal self is that if there is a contradiction or mismatch between one's self-image (how the person sees himself) and one's ideal self (what the person will like to be), it will truly affect one's self-esteem (how the person will value himself)

Explanation:

Self-concept simply refers to the way one thinks about, perceives, evaluates and sees himself.

In self-concept, an individual needs to know what he sees in himself (self-image), understand the extent he values himself (self-esteem) and have a picture of what he likes to be (ideal self)

Father: I only worked after I was an adult and graduated.

Question: and what were the games like?

Write a fictional story about a party where things go horribly, horribly awry. Word limit 150-200

Answers

Answer:

It was on a sunny evening, my parents were out of town for the weekend and I thought it was a good idea to invite some friends over and have a party.

The party started soon after with music blaring, enough liquor (even though we were not up to eighteen), and plenty of necking.

The night was going on really well as my crush Tabitha seemed very interested in me that evening. We were walking hand in hand and she laughed at all my lame jokes, perhaps she was tipsy.

My dad had a gun in his bedroom upstairs which he always kept locked. I did not put too much thought to it, but quite a number of teenagers were in my parents' room, doing what teenagers do best.

Suddenly I heard a loud bang, we all went upstairs quickly and saw Raphael lying in a pool of blood. It appeared that he was playing with the gun, perhaps not knowing it was loaded and mistakenly squeezed the trigger.

A once-happy party turned sour in the twinkling of an eye. All I wanted was for the poor lad to be safe. I called 911 and he was taken to ICU.

Thank you :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As I turned my head to the morning sky, I felt the soft breeze of Favonius gently caress my cheek. I knew our harvesting crops would be plenty and bountiful this year. Mother would travel deep into the countrysides every month to tend to the human's crops. Her trips would sometimes take days and I wouldn't see her until a week later, but as the goddess of agriculture and crops, she was obligated to help the humans whenever they prayed to her or gave her offerings. I never complained about not seeing her much, I knew she valued her work greatly, and besides, I had friends in the sanctuary to congregate with every day. The ocean nymphs and I would usually sit by the groves and practice our literature and poetry to pass the time, and the Tree nymphs and I would always hold competitions to see who could create the most enchanting design for the gardens surrounding the sanctuary. Even though I had many friends, deep down I did wish mother would spend more time with me. As the afternoon neared, the nymphs and I prepared lunch, mother would be coming back today, and I wanted to make sure everything was clean and a proper meal was prepared to welcome her back. "Proserpina dear? Did you collect the roses from the garden for your mother?" I turned around to see Diana, with her silver hair and white eyes, she was my mother's most devoted follower. Diana was the goddess of wild animals and of the hunt. "Oh I must have forgotten," I said embarrassed. Diana was not someone to forget orders easily, she protected our hidden sanctuary from unsuspecting humans, and she did a good job at it too. "Make sure you collect those flowers, we've almost finished with the bouquets we are just missing the roses," She said quickly. Diana was always working, when I was young she told me women didn't need husbands because our work is something we should prioritize. By the time I got older, I knew all the rumors of what Diana did to men that she caught who secretly spied on her. Let us just say it didn't end well for them. I went to grab my shawl from my room when I overheard a faint conversation coming from the kitchen. Me being nosy wanted to know what they were talking about because my mom forbade me from ever leaving the sanctuary. Ther other nymphs could leave the sanctuary though, and when they came back, they would always tell me stories of enormous human cities and how they were plated in gold. And how the queens of those cities would dress in the finest fabrics from far away lands. I'd stay up all night listening to those stories. Mother told me that the humans were dirty creatures who should never be trusted, but I was always fascinated with their quaint villages and their construct way of living. It all seemed childish to my family because they too, were gods, but to me, it was the most interesting thing. I listened in on the quiet discussion the two nymphs were having without them knowing I was listening in on them. "The human king of the city Krinthos proposed to the daughter of a young noble yesterday I heard, they had such a grand celebration, you could hear the music and their shouting from a mile away!" one of the nymphs exclaimed in an excited tone. Oh, how I wished to be free like the humans, to love someone for eternity, but mother would never let me, she wants me to follow in Diana's footsteps and become one of her maidens, which would mean I would have to swear by oath never to fall in love with a man ever. I greatly respected my mother's wishes because I didn't want to ruin my relationship with Diana, she was like an older sister to me, and the only other goddess in the sanctuary besides my mother and I. When I got to the garden I noticed that all the roses had wilted, and no fresh ones lay ready to pick. Unsatisfied, I let out a sigh and began to walk towards the garden near the outskirts of the sanctuaries lands. My mother told me never to leave the mainlands, and only go near the outskirts if I had my nymph friends with me, but I was too far from home already, and this would only take a few minutes. As I neared the outskirts, I saw a bush of roses, red like blood, and mature enough to be picked. I placed my hand at the bottom of a rose when I began to feel the ground tremble with a force so great, I fell down. There could only be one explanation to this force and I knew it had to be a god. I got quickly back on my feet and began to run back towards the house when the ground underneath me collapsed, I began to fall and screamed for my mother, and then everything went black.
