which of the following contributed to the spanish taking control of the empire?

Answers

Answer:n the European race to colonial dominance, the Treaty of Tordesillas legitimized Spain’s holdings in the New World, indicating Spanish primacy over Portugal.

The successes of Columbus ushered in an era of Spanish conquest that led numerous other European explorers to attempt similar colonization projects.

Spain gained immense wealth from this expansionism, which translated into an influx of Spanish art and cultural capital.

Treaty of Tordesillas

Columbus’s colonization of the Atlantic islands inaugurated an era of aggressive Spanish expansion across the Atlantic. Spanish colonization after Columbus accelerated the rivalry between Spain and Portugal to an unprecedented level. The two powers vied for domination through the acquisition of new lands.

In the 1480s, Pope Sixtus IV had granted Portugal the right to all land south of the Cape Verde islands, leading the Portuguese king to claim that the lands discovered by Columbus belonged to Portugal, not Spain. But in 1493, Spanish-born Pope Alexander VI issued two papal decrees giving legitimacy to Spain’s Atlantic claims over the claims of Portugal. Hoping to salvage Portugal’s holdings, King João II negotiated a treaty with Spain. The Treaty of Tordesillas in 1494 drew a north-to-south line through South America. Spain gained territory west of the line, while Portugal retained the lands east of the line, including the east coast of Brazil.

Conquistadores and Spanish colonization

Columbus’s discovery opened a floodgate of Spanish exploration. Inspired by tales of rivers of gold and timid, malleable native peoples, later Spanish explorers were relentless in their quest for land and gold. Spanish explorers with hopes of conquest in the New World were known as conquistadores. Hernán Cortés arrived on Hispaniola in 1504 and participated in the conquest of the Island. Cortés then led the exploration of the Yucatán Peninsula in hopes of attaining glory.

In 1519, Cortés entered Tenochtitlán, the capital of the Aztec/Mexica Empire. He and his men were astonished by the sophisticated gardens and temples in the city, but they were horrified by the practice of human sacrifice. Above all, the Aztec wealth in gold fascinated the Spanish explorers.

Hoping to gain power over the city, Cortés took Moctezuma, the Aztec ruler, hostage. The Spanish then murdered hundreds of high-ranking Mexica during a religious festival, but the people of Tenochtitlán quickly retaliated. Cortés and his people fled for their lives.

Following his defeat, Cortés slowly created alliances and recruited tens of thousands of native peoples who resented Aztec rule. Only by playing upon the disunity among the diverse groups in the Aztec Empire were the Spanish able to capture Tenochtitlán. In August 1521, Cortés claimed Tenochtitlán for Spain and renamed it Mexico City. The Spanish also brought smallpox, which took a heavy toll on the people in Tenochtitlán. Illness played a much greater role in the city’s downfall than violence.

Cortés was also aided by a Nahua woman called Malintzin—also known as La Malinche or Doña Marina, her Spanish name—whom the natives of Tabasco gave him as tribute. Malintzin translated for Cortés and, whether willingly or under duress, entered into a physical relationship with him. Their son, Martín, may have been the first mestizo—person of mixed indigenous American and European descent. Malintzin remains a controversial figure in the history of the Atlantic World; some people view her as a traitor because she helped Cortés conquer the Aztecs, while others see her as a victim of European expansion. Regardless, without Malintzin’s help, Cortés would not have been able to dismantle the Aztec Empire.

Another conquistador, Francisco Pizarro, made his way to the Spanish Caribbean in 1509, drawn by the promise of wealth and titles. He participated in successful expeditions in Panama before following rumors of Inca wealth to the south. Although his first efforts against the Inca Empire in the 1520s failed, Pizarro captured the Inca emperor Atahualpa in 1532 and executed him soon thereafter. In 1533, Pizarro founded Lima, Peru. Like Cortés, Pizarro had to combat not only the native peoples of the lands he was conquering but also competitors from his own country—a Spanish rival, Diego de Almagro, assassinated him in 1541.

Hernando de Soto had participated in Pizarro’s conquest of the Inca, and from 1539 to 1542, he led his own expeditions to what is today the

Imagine that you drop four objects, all the size of a bowling ball, off the top of the Empire State building. Each is made of a different substance: Styrofoam, lead, Bubble Wrap, and pumpkin. Neglecting air resistance, in what order do they reach the ground.

Answers

Answer:

Pumpkin first then lead then styrofoam then bubble wrapping.

Explanation:

Considering the situation described above, "all the objects would fall at the same time."

This is based on the idea that the Earth's acceleration due to gravity is the same for all objects, irrespective of the mass of their bodies.

The formula is given as Net Force = ( G × M × m) ÷ R^2

Thus, we equate net force as the object weight.

Then we have mg = ( G × M × m) ÷ R^2

With mass canceling each other, we have g = (G × M ) R^2.

Therefore, we can conclude that the gravity of an object doesn't depend on the mass of the object.

Hence, in this case, it is concluded that by neglecting air resistance, Styrofoam, lead, Bubble Wrap, and pumpkin, "all the objects would fall at the same time."

Which factor has had the greatest negative impact on economic development in Africa since 1990

Answer:

Conflict

Explanation:

Conflicts on a massive scale have plagued the continent for the past three decades. The first Congo war started in 1997 that devastated the Congo's infrastructure and left millions of eastern Congolese tribes in the hands of warlords. The second Congo war started in 1998 which brought in nearly half the continent that destroyed infrastructure and businesses all the way from Angola to the republic of the Congo. When infrastructure is destroyed, when people are unable to be taxed, when all tax money goes to arm purchases, when governments have been weakened it is difficult for outside countries to invest capital into countries in Africa. However many nations today are starting to trade (specifically with China) and develop rapidly in Africa after many of these conflicts like the Ethiopian- Eritrean war and the Angolan civil war have ended.

Which impeachments seem politically motivated, while which were warranted?

Answers

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options attached we can say the following.

We could say that most impeachments seem politically motivated. Yes, there could be arguments that support the impeachment, but behind it, there is always a political motive in which political parties and rivalries want retribution for things that happened during the presidential administrations.

Andrew Jackson had many political and personal differences with members of teh United States Congress. Bill Clinton had a number of considerable enemies in Congress and he made the worst of the mistakes telling lies.

And about Trump, well, Democrats were desperate to make him pay for everything he did before and during his presidency. Political rivalries, revenge, personal agendas. In the end, political motivations.

An impeachment is politically motivated or warranted is a subjective matter and can vary depending on one's perspective.

In 1868, Andrew Johnson, the nation's 17th president, was up for impeachment. Johnson's impeachment came about as a result of his opposition to political rights for freedmen and calls for a moderate reconstruction strategy. On the basis of his acts and policies, it can be assumed that his impeachment was necessary.

Regarding Trump, Democrats were fervently trying to hold him accountable for all he did both before and during his presidency. Political rivalries, retaliation, and individual goals. Political motivations in the end.

Individual perspectives on whether an impeachment is legitimate or politically motivated can differ, and they may be influenced by particular facts and by the evidence put forth during the impeachment process.

In the first men in the moon, Mr Cavor expresses to the Selenites that,"men of my race considered battle the most glorious experience of life". Make an inference and describe what this statement implies about the human character. Do you think Mr. Cavor's statement is accurate? Write a 5-6 sentence response.

The statement, “men of my race considered battle the most glorious experience of life,” likely infers that by nature, the human race is dark and brutal, and thrives on warfare.  It would also be likely, that if Mr. Cavor was asked by the Selentites to elaborate, that he would explain this through the vast human history of ancient myths dealing with the glory of war.  For instance, in the Norse afterlife, fallen warriors are taken by the Valkyries to Valhalla, a hall of the heroes where the noblest warriors who fell in battle, feast with the god Odin.

how does population growth affect environment (long answer )

Answers

Answer:

Population growth is the increase in the number of people living in a particular area. Since populations can grow exponentially, resource depletion can occur rapidly, leading to specific environmental concerns such as global warming, deforestation and decreasing biodiversity. Populations in developed countries trend toward using substantially more resources, while populations in developing countries feel the impacts of environmental problems more quickly.

Explanation:

increased twelvefold. As greenhouse gases increase, so do climate patterns, ultimately resulting in the long-term pattern called climate change.

The Biggest Impacts

The use of resources and the impact of environmental issues are not equal around the globe. People in developed countries require substantially more resources to maintain their lifestyles compared with people in developing countries. For example, the United States, which contains 5 percent of the world’s population, currently produces a full 25 percent of CO2 emissions.

People in developing countries tend to feel the impacts of environmental problems more acutely, especially if they live in coastal areas directly affected by sea level rise and the extreme weather events that accompany climate change. The most vulnerable populations also experience decreased access to clean water, increased exposure to air pollution and diseases – which may result from decreased biodiversity – and may feel the impact more immediately as local resources including plants and animals deplete.

While the interconnected problems of population growth and environmental issues seem overwhelming, it is important to remember that humans can make changes that positively impact the planet. One good starting point is understanding and applying the concept of sustainability, which is the opposite of resource depletion. Sustainability describes a model of resource usage in which the current generation uses only the resources the Earth provides indefinitely (like solar or wind power instead of burning fossil fuels) to ensure that future generations inherit resources.

Answers

Answer:

Social cognitive theory

Explanation:

The social cognitive or learning theory arises, by Albert Bandura, as a response to the behavioral explanation of behavior. Albert Bandura believes that human behavior must be described in terms of the reciprocal interaction between cognitive or personal, behavioral and environmental determinants. Cognitive processes are the first mediators of behavior. But people are capable of incorporating the consequences of previous actions into their future actions. For cognitive social theory, an important part of behavior results from vicarious or imitation learning. Bandura tried to explain why subjects who learn from each other can see their level of knowledge take a major qualitative leap in one go, without the need for many trials.
