PEER COUNSELING-80points
1. What makes emotions a common human language, and how does this help counselors
understand those they are helping?
2. If someone expressed to you that they felt secure, had a loving family and friends, a
successful school or work career, but still felt restless or unfulfilled, what might you say or
recommend to them?
3. In your own words, why can it be said that the wise mind is found where our emotional mind
and thinking mind overlap?
4. Imagine your best friend has been going through a tough time after a breakup, and you have
been doing your best to listen and provide support. One afternoon your friend suddenly blurts
out, "You never listen! You're a lousy friend and haven't helped me at all. I wish I never told
you anything. You don't care about me!" Your feelings are hurt and you are angry. How might
you express your feelings without causing an argument?
5. If a peer told you they hated bad or negative emotions, how would you explain to them that
even uncomfortable emotions are not bad?
Answer:
1. Emotions are the same everywhere. Wether you live in Canada or Africa, angry is still angry and as a result its easy for the same emotion to be common and have a place in the human language.
2. I would recommend keeping a five good things journal. When I feel restless its usually because I'm surrounded by positivity but just can't see my own.
3. When you overlap rationality and emotions, your overlapping the two basics of human kind and end up with a very powerful part of the human mind, the wise mind. Its called so because its by far the smartest and most important part of your mind.
4. I would stay calm. Its pretty obvious that they're really upset right now, and they don't really mean it. I would take a few minutes to think over how my friend is feeling and how I'm feeling. Compare and contrast you could say and then calmly say something along the lines of "I know you're upset, but I'm always here for you. No matter how hard it gets, I will always listen and understand. You're important and carry a lot of importance in my everyday life. Everything will be okay."
5. Something like "Big feelings like that are scary, I agree. But still, they are important. Feelings like fear and sadness can make the most important times in our live carry value and teach us important things. The best of friendships and the strongest family bonds are formed when big feeling like that come in to play. I know its scary to try and confront such feelings, but trust me. When you do, you realize just how fearless you are and all of the negative feelings are there for a reason.
I hope this helps! Its awfully long, but it should help you out.

What are the characteristics of a severe flash flood? Select three correct answers.
Answer:
-A. Has a large volume of water
-B. Occurs only during a thunderstorm
-C. Occurs quickly
Explanation:
Flooding usually happens when large volumes of rainfall occur in relatively short time periods. Dependent on soil variants, water content, nearby trees growth and density, these are usually enough to cause rivers to overflow their banks and also occur when storms force large volumes of water from the ocean to travel inland. Typically these occur in arid ecosystems, having low average rainfall- the water accumulates in dry regions and saturates the area. Flash floods, in particular, are characterised by their relatively short duration; they typically happen within minutes or hours of due to extra rainfall, broken dams or levees during slow-moving thunderstorms or hurricanes -storms generally include heavy rainfall, lightning and strong winds. Thesephenomena are majorly destructive and can uproot trees, destroy bridges, buildings and other infrastructure while leading to loss of life.
Answer:
1: Occurs quickly
