O C. Summarizing an author's main ideas.
O D. Writing questions in the margin of the text.
Surveying an essay involves previewing an essay to predict main points. (The correct answer is B).
Take a broad look at anything, as a plot of land, to determine its principal qualities or value, according to the dictionary definition of survey. This has a similar connotation to surveying a text. The main goal is to assess the value of the text and decide whether it is worthwhile to read more deeply. It is a wide glance at a text, focusing on the overall aspects rather than the minutiae. If so, you can continue reading in the proper manner by skimming for the important ideas or making notes and there are too many texts accessible for you to read them all, therefore if they are worthless, throw them away.

because the word master had unpleasant connotations for former indentured servants, the word boss was adapted from the dutch term baas. what is the literal meaning of baas? use your dictionary if necessary.
Occupational name derived from the words "master overseer boss" in Dutch and Low German, or a moniker for someone acting in that way.
We address our superiors as boss. According to Jonathan Haeber, the word "boss" is derived from the Dutch word "baas," which means "master". The word "master" had quickly come to be associated with slavery by the middle of the 19th century, so its use was a uniquely American way of avoiding it. Because they disliked calling their superiors "master," many employees in those days preferred to address them as "boss.". But despite all of their attempts to normalize the word's usage, they were ineffective because its connotation remained unchanged.

How do Mistress Bradstreet and Charity use poetry?
In different ways, Anne Bradstreet and Charity express their ideas, emotions, and experiences through poetry.
A Puritan poet named Mistress Bradstreet used poetry to express herself and to explore her spiritual convictions and feelings. Her poems frequently portray her quest for meaning in life and struggles with religion. Bradstreet turned to poetry as a means of reflection on the challenges of life and as a means of finding comfort in her faith. Her poetry frequently focuses on themes of faith, family, and personal experiences, and is known for its introspective nature.
Charity, on the other hand, uses poetry as a form of protest and as a way to comment on contemporary social and political issues. Her poetry serves as a call to action for change by frequently addressing the injustices and inequalities experienced by marginalized communities. The political undertone and effective use of imagery and metaphor in Charity's poems help them to deliver strong messages. She uses poetry to advocate for causes and to motivate people to take action to solve the issues she writes about.
Poetry is a form of self-expression and an exploration of the experiences and viewpoints of both Mistress Bradstreet and Charity. In contrast to Charity's politically charged poetry, which is used as a form of resistance and advocacy, Bradstreet's poetry is introspective and focuses on her spiritual journey.

Any human sense can experience an illusion, although visual illusions are the most well-known and understood. The focus on visual illusions arises from the fact that vision frequently outweighs other senses.
People who watch a ventriloquist, for instance, will assume the voice is coming from the dummy because they can see the dummy mouth the words.

Read the excerpt from The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald. Then, answer the question that follows.
"There!" said the boy, as he stood still opposite them. "There" that'll do for them. They can't bear singing, and they can't stand that song. They can't sing themselves, for they have no more voice than a crow; and they don't like other people to sing."
The boy was dressed in a miner's dress, with a curious cap on his head. He was a very nice-looking boy, with eyes as dark as the mines in which he worked and as sparkling as the crystals in their rocks. He was about twelve years old. His face was almost too pale for beauty, which came of his being so little in the open air and the sunlight—for even vegetables grown in the dark are white; but he looked happy, merry indeed—perhaps at the thought of having routed the goblins; and his bearing as he stood before them had nothing clownish or rude about it.
"I saw them," he went on, "as I came up; and I'm very glad I did. I knew they were after somebody, but I couldn't see who it was. They won't touch you so long as I'm with you."
"Why, who are you?" asked the nurse, offended at the freedom with which he spoke.
"I'm Peter's son."
"Who's Peter?"
"Peter the miner."
"I don't know him."
"I'm his son, though."
"And why should the goblins mind you, pray?"
"Because I don't mind them. I'm used to them."
"What difference does that make?"
"If you're not afraid of them, they're afraid of you. I'm not afraid of them. That's all. But it's all that's wanted—up here, that is. It's a different thing down there. They won't always mind that song even, down there. And if anyone sings it, they stand grinning at him awfully; and if he gets frightened, and misses a word, or says a wrong one, they—oh! don't they give it him!"
"What do they do to him?" asked Irene, with a trembling voice.
"Don't go frightening the princess," said the nurse.
"The princess!" repeated the little miner, taking off his curious cap. "I beg your pardon; but you oughtn't to be out so late. Everybody knows that's against the law."
Based on the interaction between the boy, the princess, and her nurse, which situational conflict archetype is present in the passage?
Death and rebirth

No situational conflict is present.
The situational conflict archetype present in the passage is "good vs. evil."
What is a situational conflict archetype?A situational conflict archetype refers to a recurring pattern of conflict that arises between a protagonist and their external environment. This archetype represents a struggle or challenge that the protagonist must face and overcome in order to achieve their goals.
Examples of situational conflict archetypes include "man vs. nature", "man vs. society", "man vs. machine", and "man vs. supernatural", among others. These archetypes are often used in literature, film, and other forms of storytelling to create tension and drive the plot forward.
