I need someone to look over this to see if it’s alright, please and thank you! :)
It’s for my Sweet 16th speech for my parents.

My parents have played meaningful roles of course not only for me but also for my siblings. I want to thank my dad for always helping me understand what I am capable of, for helping believe that I have the potential to achieving my goals and dreams. There were moments becoming a teenager that I just gave up; it was you who made me feel better about things when you would tell me that you understand because that’s what i wanted. I was happy when you would just listen because I thought that you had nothing else to do. You showed me how to easily fix my problems and if any problem continues even when it starts to get annoying, you still try to help me understand. You are my savior, dad, I love you so so much.
Most importantly, I want to thank my mom for bringing me into her family. She plays a part that means a lot to me because I never really had a mom just a mother. You see, the difference is a mom (my mom) as you all know her a just Cathey but I know her as someone who is always part of my phases, who is committed, who is raising me as her own for now the 6 years that I have been with her, with my family. And I know that I can be a real pain in the butt (bleep!) or even annoying with all of my questions but I’m just glad that we have this relationship because I wouldn’t want anything better! Compared to my mother who is someone who has given me only birth with the 10 years making it hard for before the last 6 of my 16 that I have been so happy and grateful for. Mom, I know that I don’t say it enough but I love you. You make everything available for me despite working day in and day out.
All of this possible because they have been there with and for. They try to guide me on the right path when I make mistakes or do something I know I shouldn’t. There are not enough words to express how grateful I am for them both for everything they do for me. Thank you mom and dad, I love you so much.

Answers

Laura Bohannan was unsuccessful in sharing the story of Shakespeare's Hamlet because the Tiv culture had different beliefs and values, leading to a lack of understanding and misinterpretation of the story's elements, such as the ghost.

Laura Bohannan, an American cultural anthropologist, attempted to share the story of Shakespeare's Hamlet with Tiv elders in Nigeria. However, her efforts were unsuccessful because the Tiv culture had a different set of beliefs and values compared to those portrayed in the play.

The concept of ghosts, which is central to the story of Hamlet, did not translate well in Tiv culture, leading to a lack of understanding and misinterpretation of the story. This demonstrates the importance of considering cultural differences when sharing stories or ideas from one culture to another.

Answer: Claim: Free speech is crucial to the functioning of a democratic society and must be protected regardless of its content.

Evidence: "Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech." - Benjamin Franklin; "If we do not believe in freedom of speech for those we despise we do not believe in it at all." - Noam Chomsky; "We like a man to come right out and say what he thinks --- if we agree with him." - Mark Twain; "To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the right of the hearer as well as those of the speaker." - Frederick Douglass; "I am absolutely opposed to political correctness. You cannot confront hate speech until you've experienced it. You need to hear every side of the issue instead of just one." - Jane Elliot; "Free speech is meant to protect unpopular speech. Popular speech, by definition, needs no protection." - Neal Boortz.

Reasoning: The quotes above show that free speech is an essential aspect of a democratic society. If a nation wants to protect its liberty, it must protect free speech. The notion that freedom of speech should only be given to those whose views we agree with is incorrect and goes against the very principles of democracy. Suppressing speech not only violates the right of the speaker but also the right of the hearer to be informed and make their own judgments. Furthermore, the protection of free speech should also extend to unpopular speech and even hate speech, as it is through confronting and hearing all sides of an issue that we can address and challenge harmful ideas.

Concluding Sentence: In conclusion, free speech is essential to a democratic society and must be protected, even if its content is unpopular or offensive. The protection of free speech is not just about protecting the rights of the speaker, but also the rights of the hearer to be informed and make their own judgments.

The future leader of the nation and America's consoling, glimmering optimist was not yet "Ronnie." He was still known as "Dutch," a slender, bespectacled young man who was overly serious and priggish.

Self-made Americans talk about their teen jobs a lot. These anecdotes typically involve early morning alarm clocks, sore muscles, strict supervisors, and soul-stirring hours of monotony. Which is an example of a character’s language

Answers

Answer:

An example of a character's language is the specific words, phrases, or dialect that a character uses in a story, play, or movie. It can reveal the character's personality, background, social status, education, and other attributes.

For instance, in the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, the character of Scout uses informal and sometimes slang language that reflects her youth and upbringing in the Southern United States. Her father, Atticus Finch, on the other hand, uses more formal and educated language that reflects his profession as a lawyer.

In the play "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare, the character of Juliet uses poetic and romantic language to express her feelings for Romeo. In contrast, the character of Mercutio uses puns, jokes, and bawdy language that reflect his witty and irreverent personality.

In each of these examples, the character's language is an important aspect of their characterization and contributes to the overall tone and style of the story.

What is psychic distance?

. Stories frequently rely on the viewpoints of specific characters to add significance and complexity to the story's structure, storyline, and other objectives.

John Gardner (1983) defined "psychic distance" as the "distance that the reader feels between himself and the events of the story" in The Art of Fiction. A narrower mental distance is helpful to bring the reader closer to situations when specific details are necessary to engage with the story, but a bigger psychic distance might convey broad contexts or greater arcs that do not need to be as explicit.

(Romeo and Juliet) In Act 4, how are we supposed to view Paris? How does Shakespeare portray him in this act? Back up your answer with textual evidence.

Answers

Explanation:

In Act 4 of Romeo and Juliet, Paris is portrayed as a man of honour and duty. He is devoted to Juliet and is determined to fulfill his promise to marry her, despite the fact that she is already married to Romeo. His commitment to Juliet is so strong that he is willing to fight Romeo for her. This is made clear in the following lines from the play:

“I have an interest in your heart’s proceeding,

My blood for your rude brawls doth lie a-bleeding;

But I’ll amerce you with so strong a fine

That you shall all repent the loss of mine” (Act 4, Scene 5).

In this scene, Paris shows his loyalty to Juliet by offering to duel Romeo for her. He also expresses his love for Juliet by saying that his blood bleeds for her when Romeo and his friends fight. This shows that Paris is a man of honour who is willing to do anything to protect Juliet.
