There are many examples of sound in this poem. One way this is shown is in the end rhyme. End rhymes are words that rhyme at the ends of lines, which makes a rhyme scheme. In this poem, the rhyme scheme is AABBCCDD. Another way that sound is exemplified in this poem is rhythm. Rhythm is a pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables. In almost every line, there is a syllable count of six, except for the very end which has five. In “Nothing Gold Can Stay”, sound is shown by alliteration.
