Inaugural Address

Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans-
born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage—and unwilling to witness or
permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at
home and around the world.
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any
friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
This much we pledge-and more.
To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. United there is little we cannot

Anne is writing in her diary while everyone else is either

Frank.) Anne says that everyone is now a little thinner. She
also says Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan discussions are as violent
as ever and her Mom still doesn’t understand her, while she
doesn’t understand her Mom either. Miep comes with Mr.
Kraler as the doorbell rings with the V is for Victory signal,
which means “V” in Morse code. They tell everyone
“Happy New Year,” and Miep brings a cake just like she
did the year before. Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan fight over who
should cut the cake. Eventually Mrs. Frank gets the knife to
cut it. Peter asks if Miep can look for his cat Mouschi. She
has to go because Dirk is taking her to a party. Mr. Van
Daan chases after her and he wants to sell Mrs. Van Daan’s
fur coat. Mrs. Van Daan begins to cry after Mr. Van Daan
pulled the coat away from her. Mr. Kraler asks Mr. Frank
to come downstairs with him to gets his opinion on

he has to say. He tells them that works in the storeroom

heard a rumor that he was in Switzerland. Carl thought Mr.
Kraler knew more. The day before Mr. Kraler asked this,
Carl came with invoices for Mr. Kraler to sign and when he
looked up he saw Carl staring at the bookcase. He asked if
there was a door there that went up to a loft and he also
wanted Twenty more guilders (money in Holland) a week.
Dussel thinks that Carl was the thief and that’s how he
knows about it. They tell him to offer Carl half of the raise
and he agrees. He goes downstairs to get the phone and it’s
his wife calling. Margot says she wishes the end will come,
whatever it is and Mrs. Frank says she should be ashamed
of herself. Anne goes to her room and slams the door. Peter
brings Anne’s cake to her room and she thanks him. Peter
says he thinks Anne was fine with what she said and he
can’t talk when he’s mad. He says she’s fine and without
her he doesn’t know what he’ll do. Anne and Peter talk for
a little while and they feel comfortable talking with each
other. The scene ends with a diary entry by Anne. She says
that the people Miep got ration books (books of stamps
given to ensure even distribution of scarce items) for them
were arrested, so they had to cut down on their food. On
March 6th 1944, Mr. Kraler is in the hospital and he
probably has an ulcer (an open painful wound that fails to
heal.) Miep has to run the business and help the families by
herself. The Americans have landed in Italy and Mr. Frank
is hoping for the war to end soon. Mr. Dussel is waiting for
Carl to ask for more money. She really wants someone to
talk to that understands her that is young and feels like she
does.

Anne Frank has had all of these negative feelings bottled up in her, and she never expressed this. So finally she couldn't hold in her negative emotions, and which lead to her exploding her emotions to her mom. She is angry being a teenager in the war and blames all of this on the grownups. So when she finally explodes she takes it out on her mom and simply needs to calm down and talk. With her outburst peter becomes in awe of her "sticking it to the man." To which he agrees with her about the whole situation, with them both becoming unlikely allies. Having talked to peter she realized that all she needed to do was simply communicate with someone. At the end of the scene, they become close and both agree if they ever need to talk they can talk to each other. With this, I think Anne feels like a weight lifted off her shoulder because she finally let go and talked about her feelings. I personally like to talk to my friends whenever I'm feeling negative about a certain situation. The reason for this is because my friends are understanding but still straight forward, they are not afraid to tell me when I'm wrong. They don't beat around the bush with me and, this is something I appreciate, I always want to be real with myself.

Answer:

B. A hero overcomes several obstacles to find his or her way back  home.

Explanation:

Out of all the answer options, a hero going back home through challenges is most likely an archetype. While all other scenarios include tropes, they are not traditional archetypes that outline the vague story of many different narratives. Other options are more certain plots and fixed scenarios that are not that common in storytelling.

Hero on a journey is a very common archetype in many narratives, traditional and contemporary. The narratives with this trope usually involve a hero who has done some great deed and is ready to return to his home. However, the journey is not over yet, and he has more obstacles to face – usually some kinds of monsters or moral challenges. When he does return, he is a changed person, victorious and glorious.

One of the most famous examples of this archetype is Odyssey and his return home to Ithaca after the Trojan war.

Can someone read over and edit and Critique my College essay?

My Essay:

It first began with salsa on mango packed for lunch on an early morning in fourth grade. While I spent all day looking forward to my ethnic snack, I was instead faced with a feeling of embarrassment after watching my classmates laugh at the wild food combinations they were not familiar with. While I have always attended school in Washington, I spent a lot of my youth in Mexico. Therefore, expressing my culture and educating others about my background has always been one of my favorite pastimes. I am confident and proud of embracing my culture.
Additionally, being bilingual has made it possible for me to help others communicate, but most importantly help my mother, who immigrated to the U.S. after marrying my father. Due to my father constantly working one job during the day and another during the night in order to support our family, I spent most of my time with my mother, who did not speak English. Therefore, Spanish is my first language, and I did not learn English until after beginning school.
I was given the responsibility of doing almost all of the talking for my mother from an incredibly young age. For as long as I can remember, I have been translating at my mother's doctor appointments, ordering food, and being my mother's form of communication here in America. Although I have gained many new communication skills and been exposed to new experiences early on as a result of this, it took years for me to recognize this growth. It was difficult to assume independence from quite a young age. I envied those who could ask their parents for help with homework and did not have to translate on a daily basis. I struggled to fit it in at school and would constantly feel as if I was in my own box even during extracurriculars. I could not understand the traditions my classmates were so familiar with and began to feel embarrassed about my background. I would never wish the feeling of not knowing where you belong onto anyone. I have used these experiences as a lesson to help teach me to be more open minded about other people’s cultures and learn to be comfortable with my own identity.
However, I recognize negative effects of this as well. As a result of having to grow up faster than a typical child and being independent from a young age, I struggled asking others for help. As I grew older and my coursework increased in difficulty this inability to reach out became an even bigger battle. This not only played into my education but affected my sports as well. After doing competitive gymnastics since sixth grade, which served as a great distraction from hard days which seemed to be more often than not, I decided that I need to begin prioritizing my mental health as well as my education. However, I recognized that I still had a heart for the sport and longed to reach others through this. After taking a short break, I began coaching. There is nothing I can compare to the joy that I watch my students confidently stride and grasp their goals. I reflected on my personal longing for mentorship and guidance as a child and fueled this into my passion for the sport of gymnastics, and my desire to be this influence for others. I am fulfilled by being there for these students because I recognize that they have at least one place where they can be completely authentic to themselves and have someone they know is willing to help them both within the gym and beyond. This leadership has helped me learn to cope with my experiences in a positive manner and appreciate my background that has led me here.

How does Franklin use irony in this excerpt from Remarks Concerning the Savages of North America? by showing the Native Americans' inability to accept the settlers beliefs by showing the settlers their inability to see the similarities with Native Americans by showing the difference in the beliefs and their inability to understand one another by showing that neither the settlers nor Native Americans accepted the others' beliefs

Answers

Answer:

by showing that neither the settlers nor Native Americans accepted the others' beliefs

Explanation:

Benjamin Franklin showed through this article that the groups, that is, the Native Americans and the Settlers found it difficult to accept each other's believes. He used irony, that is saying the opposite of what a person means to illustrate this. When the Natives showed civility to the Settlers, they mistook it for acceptance of their beliefs. But when the Natives deliberated on the matter and offered their response, it most times was a rejection of all the things which the settlers proposed to them.

In like manner, the settlers also considered the Indian's beliefs such as his theory of the existence of life as mere fables. The Indians also believed that the English man's meeting taught him no good as his actions belied that.

Answers

Answer:

A.To establish the idea that the main characters were living in an ideal fairytale existence

Explanation:

In Once Upon A Time by Nadine Gordimer, the purpose of the narrator beginning her story with the family living "happily ever after?" is to show that such was not realistic and also to use irony, even as it is shown in the title of the book.

The author began the book like this:

"In a house, in a suburb, in a city, there were a man and his wife who loved each other very much and were living happily ever after"

This shows that the main characters were living in an ideal fairytale existence.
