The War in Korea | Short Writing | Prompt

More than 400,000 Americans lost their lives in World War II. Following such a devastating event, why would the United States choose to get involved in the military conflict in Korea? In a paragraph, explain the reasons for American involvement in Korea and include factual evidence to support your explanation.

Answers

Answer: The US had chosen to get involved in the conflict in Korea so communism wouldn't expand. North Korea was given to Russia after WII, and the US, in spite of not wanting communism to expand more and take over the globe, decided to be the sponsor for South Korea.

The United States and the Soviet Union had many conflicting views and beliefs. In the form of government, this presented itself as the United State's wanting a democratic, limited government, whereas the Soviet Union was all for a communist dictatorship. The Soviet Union had control over much of Europe which meant so did communism. The US came up with plans for the containment of communism as they did not want it to spread. To enforce their ideas, they deemed it necessary to get involved in the Korean War. Another reason being that Korea had been partitioned between the USSR and the UN after its retrieval from Japan, so the US was already involved with South Korea. As I mentioned before however, this wouldn't end well with the US and USSR in a passive aggressive competition with one another and conflicting perspectives.

Why do the chads celebrate Christmas??

Answers

Answer:

It is a public holiday that is celebrated to celebrate Jesus' birth.

Explanation:

Answer:

The celebration of Christmas in late December is certainly as a result of pre-existing celebrations happening at that time, marking the Winter Solstice. As Christianity began to take hold across the Roman empire and beyond, the date of when to celebrate the birth of Christ became a bit of an issue, with several different dates proposed. It wasn't until 350 AD, when the then Bishop of Rome, Pope Julius I, fixed the official Christmas day on December 25. Unfortunately, Julius, I didn't show his working out on how he reached this date; some scholars later suggested that it was calculated as nine months after the Annunciation (March 25), when the angel Gabriel is said to have appeared to Mary and told her she would bear the son of God. Whatever the reasoning, it is clear that, just as key pagan sites were being chosen for new churches, so too the date was chosen with the intention to catapult Christmas into becoming a major festival by placing it over the pre-existing pagan festivals.

Results of the Third Anglo-Maratha War:

Peshwa Baji Rao II was deposed and exiled to Bithur as a pensioner of the British. His territories were annexed. The descendant of Shivaji was placed on the throne at Satara.

Answer:

the biggest and most direct outcome of the third Anglo-Maratha war was the political and financial hegemony of the East India company over most of the Indian subcontinent. This war was the final important attempt of British imperialism to dominate India, and victory intended that for the next century and a half the British Empire would totally control India, which include its lucrative trade markets. With the Maratha Empire defeated, India lacked any large power to organize major resistance to the British, allowing them to divide and triumph over the rest of the region. for this reason, victory within the war brought about the East India company gaining control over most of the country.

Which inference does this excerpt from President Ronald Reagan's speech
support?
The defense policy of the United States is based on a
simple premise: The United States does not start fights.
We will never be an aggressor. We maintain our strength in
order to deter and defend against aggression to preserve
freedom and peace. Since the dawn of the atomic age,
we've sought to reduce the risk of war by maintaining a
strong deterrent and by seeking genuine arms control,
Deterrence means simply this: making sure any adversary
who thinks about attacking the United States, or our allies,
or our vital interests, concludes that the risks to him
outweigh any potential gains.
- Ronald Reagan, 19832

Answers

Answer:

From that statement, it can be inferred that President Reagan's doctrine was that of Deterrence.

Explanation:

Deterrence theory states that a country can become so powerful tat engaging in war with ti assures the destruction of the adversary. It can also applied to two or more countries, which means that these countries would never engage in a mutual war, because they would assure their mutual destruction.

This is exactly what happenend in the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union: both countries had so much military power, and especially, nuclear power, that they preffered to avoid any direct confrontation.

What Reagan's speech is saying is that the U.S. should be so powerful, that no country on Earth would even think of starting a war with it.

The event that ended the Cultural Revolution is Mao Zedong's death. The correct option is d.

What is the cultural revolution?

The Cultural Revolution, was a sociopolitical movement in the People's Republic of China (PRC) launched by Mao Zedong in 1966, and lasting until his death in 1976.

Its stated goal was to preserve Chinese communism by purging remnants of capitalist and traditional elements from Chinese society. The Revolution marked the effective commanding return of Mao who was still the Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party to the centre of power, after a period of self-abstention and ceding to less radical leadership in the aftermath of the Mao-led Great Leap Forward debacle and the Great Chinese Famine. The Revolution failed to achieve its main goals.

Launching the movement in May 1966 with the help of the Cultural Revolution Group, Mao charged that bourgeois elements had infiltrated the government and society with the aim of restoring capitalism.
