How does the author use the language and dialogue in Chunk 1 to reveal how men see the relative advantages of men and women? Use details from the text to support your answer.

Answers

Hello. You did not say what text this question refers to, which makes it impossible for your question to be answered. However, I will try to help you in the best possible way.

In order for the author to be able to use the dialogue and language of a text to show how men see the relative advantages of men and women, it is necessary that the author uses a diction and creates speech for the characters that show the differences between the genres both biologically and socially. These differences can even be portrayed in a stereotypical way if the author wishes to show the wrong thinking of these men, or their inability to make social assessments based on facts.

In the poem "Barbara Frietchie," which event happened before Barbara leaned out her window-sill? Barbara Frietchie’s work is o’er,/ And the Rebel rides on his raids no more. Up rose old Barbara Frietchie then,/ Bowed with her fourscore years and ten; Over Barbara Frietchie’s grave/ Flag of Freedom and Union, wave! All day long that free flag tost/ Over the heads of the rebel host.

Answers

Answer:

Up rose old Barbara Frietchie then,/ Bowed with her fourscore years and ten;

Explanation:

The poem tells the story of an old woman named Barbara Frietchie who did not oblige the Confederate forces by lowering her American flag when they came to Maryland where she lived.

She was very bold as can be seen in her action of picking up an American flag and hanging it over her roof top for everyone to see. In the poem, she is first described as rising up. This is then followed by a description of her age which showed that she was an advanced woman.

Personally I believe the dress code is a majorly wrong policie every time they talk about it; it revolves solely around women for the majority of the time or it's only reinforced towards women. In my gym class when we would be outside and it was over 90 degrees my teacher would allow guys to take their gym shirts off and be shirtless but wouldn't allow girls to take their gym shirts off and be in a sports bra if that's the case no one should be able to take their shirts off if there to hot. They will dresscode you for having your underwear peek above your pants slightly if you bend over but allow guys to walk around with their shorts higher than their underwear but it's okay because it's “different” because it's on a guy and not “revealing”. Growing up with these schools dress codes have honestly just told women to cover up because were distracting the boys what about us tho? Sending us down to the office giving detentions because our bra is showing or were wearing a tank top making us leave class and lose time in class learning to change or get in trouble while the boys who are being "distracted" by us are in class learning why not just teach boys self control when they see a bra strap? it's just overall a very flawed and honestly wrong system. It makes a lot of women and girls feel as if they were seen as objects and that's why I think schools should reconsider the way they do their dress code.

Answer: Vaccines- The history

Explanation: Vaccines are shots of medicine that are used to prevent someone from catching a strain or virus. They are used worldwide, and are given to mostly children and elderly, to protect their immune systems.

What is the history of vaccines? The first vaccine was developed in 1796 by Edward Jenner. He made it to find a cure to smallpox. He tested it on a 13-year-old infected with smallpox, and the boy later showed immunity to smallpox. In 1798, the smallpox vaccine was first released to the public.

Which of the following couplets from Shakespeare's Sonnet 138 employs double entendre to express the theme that physical love triumphs over all failures?

O, love's best habit is in seeming trust / And age in love loves not to have years told

Answers

Answer:

O, love's best habit is in seeming trust / And age in love loves not to have years told.

Explanation:

William Shakespeare's "Sonnet 138" deals with the issues of love relationship and his insecurities about growing old and how that will be an aspect of the relationship. The short sonnet delves into the short 'affair' of the poet with his "dark lady", which reassures his 'validity' of being capable of love and to be loved in return.

A double entendre is when the poet uses words that have a double meaning. This is evident in the lines "O, love's best habit is in seeming trust / And age in love loves not to have years told." In these two lines, the poet describes how he thinks love is like a disguise to hide secrets, the pretense of truth. And older lovers, like himself, don't like it when their old age is pointed out.

Thus, the correct answer is the last/ fourth option.

The following testimony of the Boston Massacre was given by Captain Thomas Preston during court hearings on the event on March 13, 1770.I saw the people in great commotion and heard them use the most cruel and horrid threats against the troops. They immediately surrounded the sentry . . . and with clubs and other weapons threatened to execute their vengeance on him. I was soon informed by a townsman their intention was to carry off the soldier from his post and probably murder him . . . I immediately sent a non-commissioned officer and 12 men to protect both the sentry and the king's money, and very soon followed myself to prevent, if possible, all disorder . . . They soon rushed through the people, and by charging their bayonets in half-circles, kept them at a little distance. . . . The mob still increased and were more outrageous, striking their clubs or bludgeons one against another, and calling out, come on you rascals, you bloody backs, you lobster scoundrels, fire if you dare, G-d d*** you, fire and be d***ed, we know you dare not, and much more such language was used. At this time I was between the soldiers and the mob, parleying with, and endeavouring all in my power to persuade them to retire peaceably, but to no purpose. . . .The whole of this melancholy affair was transacted in almost 20 minutes. On my asking the soldiers why they fired without orders, they said they heard the word fire and supposed it came from me. This might be the case as many of the mob called out fire, fire, but I assured the men that I gave no such order; that my words were, don't fire, stop your firing. In short, it was scarcely possible for the soldiers to know who said fire, or don't fire, or stop your firing. What is the main idea or topic being expressed?Who will read this testimony?
