Did Columbus bring syphilis back to Europe?

Answers

Answer 1

The idea that Columbus and his crew brought syphilis back to Europe after their voyage to the Americas was first suggested in the 16th century, when the first outbreak of the disease was recorded in Europe.

At the time, syphilis was a new and mysterious disease, and many people believed that it was brought back by Columbus and his crew.

However, there is also evidence to suggest that syphilis may have existed in Europe before Columbus's voyage. Skeletal remains from Europe and Africa dating back to before Columbus's voyage show signs of syphilis, and some historians believe that the disease may have spread from Africa to Europe through trade and other forms of contact.

Additionally, there is evidence to suggest that the indigenous people of the Americas had already developed resistance to syphilis before Columbus's arrival. This would mean that the disease was already present in the Americas before Columbus and his crew arrived, and that they did not bring it back to Europe.

explain why the weaknesses of the articles of confederation led to a critical period for the united states in the 1780’s.

Answers

The Articles of Confederation had several weaknesses, including: no central authority to enforce laws, no power to tax citizens, and no power to regulate trade. This led to a critical period in the United States in the 1780s because the lack of a strong central government resulted in economic turmoil and political instability. The individual states were unable to address the issues faced by the nation as a whole, and the country was faced with mounting debt, inflation, and disputes between states over trade and borders. The weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation ultimately led to the drafting of the U.S. Constitution, which established a stronger central government and helped to resolve the problems faced by the country during this critical period.

The Articles established a weak central authorities and placed most powers in the hands of the states. Under the Articles, the US financial system faltered, considering the fact that the central government lacked the electricity to implement tax laws or modify commerce.

Why did the weaknesses of the Articles lead to a necessary duration for the united states of america in the 1780's?

Congress did no longer have the strength to tax or modify change between the states. Also it did now not have the strength to make the States obey the Articles.

Why was once the duration underneath the Articles of Confederation the vital period?

The Atlantic slave trade, transatlantic slave trade, or Euro-American slave trade involved the transportation by slave traders of enslaved African people, mainly to the Americas. The slave trade regularly used the triangular trade route and its Middle Passage, and existed from the 16th to the 19th centuries.

Except for the Portuguese, European slave traders generally did not participate in the raids because life expectancy for Europeans in sub-Saharan Africa was less than one year during the period of the slave trade. The colonial South Atlantic and Caribbean economies were particularly dependent on labour for the production of sugarcane and other commodities. In the middle of the seventeenth century, West African slave transported by British Ships across the Atlantic was most likely to end up in Louisiana.

By the mid-1600s, the slave trade was a booming industry, with British ships as the main carrier for African slaves being transported to the New World. Over a century before, in 1619, 20 enslaved Africans landed at Jamestown in Virginia. However, by the mid-17th century, the majority of these involuntary passengers were more likely to end up in Louisiana.

There are many reasons why going to Mars is important. First, Mars is the most likely planet for us to colonize. No matter how expensive, we need to work on getting there as soon as possible. Furthermore, the technology that we would need to develop to send humans to Mars would directly benefit our economy here on Earth. Just look at the money-making products that have already resulted from NASAs space efforts: invisible braces, water filters, and cordless vacuums, to name just a few. Although we have already sent robots to Mars, robots cant take the place of humans when it comes to studying the planet. A robot may break down. Also, it takes robots much longer to cover the same amount of ground than it would a human. Think how much faster we could learn about the planet if we sent humans to work alongside the robots! Finally, claims that there will be significant health problems for people who travel to Mars are wrong. Studies have shown that radiation levels on Mars are not lethal to humans. For one thing, it is too dangerous. The atmosphere of the planet is more carbon dioxide than oxygen, and its very cold. While there are claims that the radiation levels on the planet are not lethal to humans, that does not mean they arent dangerous. We dont yet know what the long-term health effects will be. As of now, we do not have a solution for this problem. It is foolish to think a dome would be able to protect us from all of the radiation. It would also be impossible to build one large enough to house as many people as would want to go. Also, going to Mars will be expensive. Why spend money travelling to a planet that is so dangerous and far away? That money could be better spent addressing problems here on Earth. Furthermore, it is unwise to think any inventions that come about as a result of our race to Mars would make up for the cost of getting there. We are already able to send robots to Mars.
