I just heard about a great event that other cities are putting on, and I think Rockwood should, too. It is called Sunday Parkways, and it is a Sunday in the summer when whole neighborhoods are closed to cars. Only non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians are allowed. In other cities I have seen, people really get into the spirit of it. They play music and wear crazy makeup and costumes, and everyone has a blast, especially the kids. But the best part is that it brings the community closer together. People get to see and talk to their neighbors, and they often make new friends. At the end of the day, people feel energized and happy that they live in such a friendly town. Plus, it contributes to "greening" the city because everyone leaves their cars at home for the day. I think our city council should definitely consider putting on a Rockwood Sunday Parkways event.

Sincerely,

Serena Bhatti
