What aspects of the Civil War might have caused this dramatic shift in style, form, and thematic discourse in American literature?
Answer:
During the American Civil War, the people of the country had many experiences that are quite unpleasant and these made many of them to ask questions that no one has answers to. The war had negative effects on everyone including writers. By the end of the war, authors generally began to put their war experience into writing and these radically change the style, form and the thematic discourse that were the characteristics of American literature.

1. What does the book's subtitle, "My Father Bleeds History," suggest to you, especially the word "bleeds" in Maus
Answer:
"My Father Bleeds History," is a powerful phrase that suggests that Vladek's experience in the Holocaust caused him to "bleed" it. Vladek went through the experience that most people learn in history books. Thus, instead of the mind containing the information, Vladek bleeds it as his body carries on the experiences with which he endured. The phrase "bleeds" can be taken as a metaphor in a way, but he really did bleed through history.

Explanation:
1. Explain the conflict in a story you've read. Then evaluate how effectively the conflict creates specific emotions in you, the reader. Be sure to introduce your ideas, use precise language, use specific examples from the story, and end the response with a concluding statement. The story you analyze may be a reading from this course. Alternatively, the story may be from outside the course, or from another course.
Answer:
The story I chose is On a Mountain Trail by Harry Perry Robinson.
There are two characters in this story, Jack and Gates, and Jack is the one who narrates the story. The conflict is that when they are going to Gulch City they get stuck in the mountain's trail because twenty (or even thirty, they don't know) wolves attack them and they have to defend their selves.
When you read the story you feel that it's impossible for them to get away of that situation. Jack has a gun and he shots many times but then he realises he has only one shot left and that makes you feel hopeless. At the same time, Gates says he feels awful because there's only one shot left and they can't kill themselves (he says he doesn't want to be killed by wolves).
Fortunately, they can scape and they leave the conflict behind. I believe the conflict in this story is built correctly and that you can really tell how the characters are feeling while the conflict is happening. However, I think it would be good to get to know the characters more so anyone could relate to them better.
Explanation:
To complete this exercise, you have to choose a story and then explain the story's conflict giving examples and giving a complete answer.
I chose the story On a Mountain Trail by Harry Perry Robinson, which is about a particular situation in the mountain's trail where the characters of the story have to defend their selves.
It's important to tell how you feel while reading the story because that reflects if the conflict was interesting and well written.
How can ice shape the earth? 2-3 sentences! PLEASE HELP!!
Answer:
Glaciers can modify landscapes by eroding or removing rock and sediment. They have two methods for eroding bedrock: Abrasion: The ice at the bottom of a glacier is not always pure, and it often contains particles of rock, dirt, and debris. It's abrasive, like sandpaper. A glacier is formed as ice travels downward under the force of gravity, and glaciers replace rivers in valleys. Ice, like rivers, collects and conveys huge volumes of material. The material erodes the earth as it goes downhill, resulting in exceptionally attractive landforms in highland locations.
