The correct sequence of applying immersion oil is as follows:
b. Focus on the specimen using the 40x objective lens.
c. Tum the objectives to halfway between the 40x lens and the 100x lens.
a. Apply a drop of immersion oil directly onto the area Of the slide you were viewing.
d. Rotate the 100x lens over the microscope slide, and use the fine focus adjustment knob to sharpen the image
The 100x objective lens with oil immersion is the most powerful light microscope lens. Immersion oil is used because it has been formulated in such a way the same refractive index as glass. Thus light refraction does not occur when moving from glass to oil and vice versa.
Here is the rule of conduct on immersion oil:
1. Focus on the colored sample at low power.
2. Alternate the turret 40x, centering the desired section of the sample. Refocus very carefully to get the sample in focus as sharply as possible. Keep using this focus for the next steps.
3. IMPORTANT STEP
Alternate the turret partly, so that 40x and 100x objectives stand on both sides of the sample.
Carefully, put a small drop of oil on the slide in the center of the bright area.
Be sure to set a drop of oil straight over the area of the sample to be tested.
4. Spin the turret and let the 100x oil immersion objective touches the oil and clicks into place.
Find the right focus by moving the slide slightly left and right. Always work with fine focus. Observe the motion in the visual field, and aim attention at the object which moved.
5. Place a drop of oil on the second sample, and smooth along the slide laterally until it is in place if you work with more than one sample on a slide.
6. After you have applied oil to the specimen, don't turn to the 10x or 40x objectives again, or else oil can ruin the lower power objectives.
7. After finishing with your observation, clean everything up by wiping the 100x oil immersion objective carefully. Use lens paper to remove all oil. For the slide, clean the oil thoroughly with lens tissue. Cleanse stage also in case oil has spilled on it. Close the immersion oil container tightly again, and put it back in the drawer.

what is the first event of an action potential? potassium gates open and the membrane depolarizes. potassium gates open and the membrane repolarizes. sodium gates open and the membrane depolarizes. sodium gates open and the membrane repolarizes.
Depolarization happens first, then repolarization, and then there is a brief phase of hyperpolarization. These three things take place in a matter of milliseconds.
Excitatory postsynaptic potentials from a presynaptic neuron are most frequently responsible for triggering action potentials. Normally, the presynaptic neuron releases neurotransmitter molecules. The receptors on the postsynaptic cell are then occupied by these neurotransmitters. Ion channels of different sorts are opened by this binding. Voltage-gated sodium channels rapidly open during an action potential, then quickly deactivate and reset to the closed state. Potassium channels that are voltage-gated open and close more slowly. The resting potential, threshold, rising phase, declining phase, and recovery phase are the five phases that make up the action potential.

chromogens that function as basic stains in the simple staining procedure color the bacterial cell by___
Chromogens that function as basic stains in the simple staining procedure, color the bacterial cell by adhering to the negatively charged cells.
It is a cationic dye (positive charge) that dyes the cell blue. The presence of negatively charged molecules (such as DNA and RNA) in the cell causes the cell to stain blue. In contrast to negative staining, which leaves the bacteria unstained against a dark background, simple staining involves directly staining the bacterial cell with a positively charged dye in order to see bacterial detail.
Crystal violet, safranin, and methylene blue are some stains that are commonly used for simple staining. Simple stains can be used to determine the morphology and arrangement of bacterial species, but they provide no additional information.

culture and susceptibility tests are performed prior to the prescription of antimicrobial drugs. what is the specific purpose of the culture test?
The culture test is a critical step in the process of antimicrobial therapy. Its specific purpose is to identify the type of pathogenic microorganisms causing the infection, such as bacteria, fungi, or viruses.
The culture test involves obtaining a sample from the infected site, such as blood, urine, or tissue, and growing it in a laboratory setting to allow the microorganisms to proliferate. This allows for the accurate identification of the pathogen, which is essential for selecting the most appropriate antimicrobial drug to treat the infection.
Without a culture test, it would be impossible to determine the specific type of pathogen causing the infection, making it more difficult to choose the correct antimicrobial drug.
This could lead to the use of a broad-spectrum antibiotic, which would target a wide range of bacteria and may not be the most effective treatment for the specific pathogen causing the infection.

One reason for decreasing populations is due to people leaving agricultural jobs to work in
developed urban areas.
True
False
The above given statement is true that one reason for decreasing populations is due to people leaving agricultural jobs to work in developed urban areas.
What is population? The term "population" describes all of the members of a certain species or group of species that are present in a given geographical area. Population in human demographics refers to the total number of people inhabiting a given area, city, nation, or planet. Population dynamics are studied and understood using a variety of essential variables, including population size, growth rate, age structure, migratory patterns, and fertility rates.
People moving to established urban regions in quest of better economic prospects and a higher standard of living is one reason why populations in rural and agricultural areas are declining. This phenomenon, known as rural-urban migration, may cause the population of rural areas to decrease and the population of urban areas to increase. The local economy may be impacted by a decline in the agricultural workforce and a reduction in the number of farms and rural businesses as a result of migration from rural to urban areas. In addition to increasing poverty and social inequality, urbanisation can result in the destruction of natural habitats, the spread of pollution and other environmental issues, and the loss of natural ecosystems.

what two conditions must be met during exercise for indirect calorimetry to most accurately reflect metabolic rate?
Intensity of exercise and steady state of oxygen intake and carbondioxide release are two conditions must be met during exercise for indirect calorimetry to most accurately reflect metabolic rate
Based on the measurement of oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide production, indirect calorimetry is a technique for calculating metabolic rate during exercise. Two requirements must be satisfied for the approach to effectively portray metabolic rate during exercise:
In order to reach a steady state, where oxygen intake and carbon dioxide generation are stable and no longer increasing, the person must exercise at a constant intensity for a long enough period of time (often 10 to 15 minutes).
Closed-circuit breathing apparatus: The person must use a mouthpiece or mask with a closed-circuit breathing apparatus that collects all air breathed in and exhaled. This guarantees that the assessment of carbon dioxide production and oxygen intake is precise and representative of the person's metabolic rate throughout exercise. Indirect calorimetry can offer a more precise and reliable assessment of metabolic rate during exercise if it can satisfy these two requirements. This measurement can then be used to calculate energy expenditure, rate the intensity of an exercise session, and track fitness improvements over time.

how do animal cells and plant cells react differently in a hypotonic solution
Answer:
In a hypotonic solution, an animal cell will fill with too much water and lyse, or burst open. However, plant cells need more water than animal cells, and will not burst in a hypotonic solution due to their thick cell walls; hypotonic solutions are ideal for plant cells.
Explanation:
Please mark me Brainliest!
The presence of a rigid cell wall in plant cells allows them to withstand the pressure changes that occur in a hypotonic solution, whereas animal cells without a cell wall are vulnerable to lysis. This difference highlights the importance of understanding the unique features and responses of different cell types to changes in their environment.
Animal cells and plant cells are two types of eukaryotic cells with different structures and functions. One major difference between these two cell types is the presence of a rigid cell wall in plant cells but not in animal cells. In a hypotonic solution, which has a lower concentration of solutes compared to the concentration inside the cell, both plant and animal cells will experience changes in their volume and shape. However, the responses of these two types of cells to a hypotonic solution differ due to their structural differences.
When placed in a hypotonic solution, animal cells and plant cells will both experience a net movement of water into the cell. This is because water will move from an area of high concentration (outside the cell) to an area of low concentration (inside the cell) in an attempt to balance the concentration on both sides of the cell membrane.
In animal cells, the influx of water will cause the cell to swell and potentially burst (lysis) due to the lack of a rigid cell wall to maintain its shape. As water enters the cell, the volume of the cytoplasm increases, and the cell membrane stretches until it can no longer contain the excess water. This bursting of the cell can cause damage to surrounding tissues and can ultimately lead to cell death.
In contrast, plant cells have a cell wall that provides structural support and prevents them from bursting in a hypotonic solution. The influx of water will cause the plant cell to swell, but the cell wall will prevent it from bursting. Instead, the increased pressure on the cell wall causes the plant cell to become turgid, which is important for maintaining the structural integrity of the plant. The turgor pressure also helps to maintain the shape of the plant and allows it to stand upright.
However, if the plant cell is exposed to a hypotonic solution for an extended period, the excessive swelling and turgor pressure can become detrimental. The continuous influx of water can cause the cell to reach its maximum capacity, and the pressure can damage the cell wall, ultimately leading to the wilting of the plant.
