Answer:
C). A short nonfiction work in which the author attempts to convince the reader to think or do something specific.
Explanation:
An argumentative essay is defined as a precise work of nonfiction that establishes an alternate viewpoint or perspective on a specific topic with sufficient evidence to support it in order to persuade the readers to believe in it or accept it. It primarily aims to display both the aspects of the particular topic but strengthen one aspect with appropriate evidence and support to convince them. Thus, option C is the correct answer.

The Book of Dragons
Chapter III The Deliverers of Their Country, an excerpt
By E. Nesbit
It all began with Effie's getting something in her eye. It hurt very much indeed, and it felt something like a red-hot spark—only it seemed to have legs as well, and wings like a fly. Effie rubbed and cried—not real crying, but the kind your eye does all by itself without your being miserable inside your mind—and then she went to her father to have the thing in her eye taken out. Effie's father was a doctor, so of course he knew how to take things out of eyes.
When he had gotten the thing out, he said: "This is very curious." Effie had often got things in her eye before, and her father had always seemed to think it was natural—rather tiresome and naughty perhaps, but still natural. He had never before thought it curious.
Effie stood holding her handkerchief to her eye, and said: "I don't believe it's out." People always say this when they have had something in their eyes.
"Oh, yes—it's out," said the doctor. "Here it is, on the brush. This is very interesting."
Effie had never heard her father say that about anything that she had any share in. She said: "What?"
The doctor carried the brush very carefully across the room, and held the point of it under his microscope—then he twisted the brass screws of the microscope, and looked through the top with one eye.
"Dear me," he said. "Dear, dear me! Four well-developed limbs; a long caudal appendage; five toes, unequal in lengths, almost like one of the Lacertidae, yet there are traces of wings." The creature under his eye wriggled a little in the castor oil, and he went on: "Yes; a bat-like wing. A new specimen, undoubtedly. Effie, run round to the professor and ask him to be kind enough to step in for a few minutes."
"You might give me sixpence, Daddy," said Effie, "because I did bring you the new specimen. I took great care of it inside my eye, and my eye does hurt."
The doctor was so pleased with the new specimen that he gave Effie a shilling, and presently the professor stepped round. He stayed to lunch, and he and the doctor quarreled very happily all the afternoon about the name and the family of the thing that had come out of Effie's eye.
But at teatime another thing happened. Effie's brother Harry fished something out of his tea, which he thought at first was an earwig. He was just getting ready to drop it on the floor, and end its life in the usual way, when it shook itself in the spoon—spread two wet wings, and flopped onto the tablecloth. There it sat, stroking itself with its feet and stretching its wings, and Harry said: "Why, it's a tiny newt!"
The professor leaned forward before the doctor could say a word. "I'll give you half a crown for it, Harry, my lad," he said, speaking very fast; and then he picked it up carefully on his handkerchief.
"It is a new specimen," he said, "and finer than yours, Doctor."
It was a tiny lizard, about half an inch long—with scales and wings.
So now the doctor and the professor each had a specimen, and they were both very pleased. But before long these specimens began to seem less valuable. For the next morning, when the knife-boy was cleaning the doctor's boots, he suddenly dropped the brushes and the boot and the blacking, and screamed out that he was burnt.
And from inside the boot came crawling a lizard as big as a kitten, with large, shiny wings.
"Why," said Effie, "I know what it is. It is a dragon like the one St. George killed."
And Effie was right. That afternoon Towser was bitten in the garden by a dragon about the size of a rabbit, which he had tried to chase, and the next morning all the papers were full of the wonderful "winged lizards" that were appearing all over the country. The papers would not call them dragons, because, of course, no one believes in dragons nowadays—and at any rate the papers were not going to be so silly as to believe in fairy stories. At first there were only a few, but in a week or two the country was simply running alive with dragons of all sizes, and in the air you could sometimes see them as thick as a swarm of bees. They all looked alike except as to size. They were green with scales, and they had four legs and a long tail and great wings like bats' wings, only the wings were a pale, half-transparent yellow, like the gear-boxes on bicycles.
Why does the author continue to have the creatures appear in a variety of places in this story?
To encourage readers to guess what will happen next
To keep the reader guessing what the creatures are
To make the action more predictable
To suggest the problem is quickly spreading
Answer:
first choice.
Explanation:
Since it is fantasy, the creatures provide all the variation needed in the story. One cannot imagine what will happen. One does't know what to expect, because it is fantasy.
Anything can happen and as long as we keep hearing about the creatures, we are curious and find it interesting, just as the doctor did. /We are living in the author's imagination.
So the answer is the first choice.

Can someone read my essay and tell me what they think?
Robert Frost was a college dropout- twice! Even though he dropped out of college, he is still an amazing poet. For example, “Nothing Gold Can Stay” is a structured poem. It is a poem because it shows the elements of sound, imagery, and figurative language.
There are many examples of sound in this poem. One way this is shown is in the end rhyme. End rhymes are words that rhyme at the ends of lines, which makes a rhyme scheme. In this poem, the rhyme scheme is AABBCCDD. Another way that sound is exemplified in this poem is rhythm. Rhythm is a pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables. In almost every line, there is a syllable count of six, except for the very end which has five. In “Nothing Gold Can Stay”, sound is shown by alliteration. Alliteration is the repeating of beginning consonant sounds. One example of this is the line “Her hardest hue to hold”. In this line, the beginning “H” sound is exaggerated by using it in multiple words.
Imagery is another element that makes “Nothing Gold Can Stay” a poem. One way imagery is shown is Eden. Eden is a garden in the bible, and is referenced in the line “So Eden sank to grief”. In this poem, the reader can visualize a beautiful garden, or Eden, slowly turning dark and gloomy as dark clouds fill a once sunny sky. Another way that imagery is shown is in the line “So dawn goes down to day”. In this line, the reader can imagine a beautiful pink and orange sunrise turning into the boring, blue sky that occurs during the day.
Figurative language is also used to make “Nothing Gold Can Stay” a poem. One example of figurative language is “Her early leaf’s a flower”. This line shows personification, which means giving human traits to an animal or object. In this line, personification is used where the author wrote “Her”, referencing to mother nature. Another example of figurative language is the idea of nature being gold. In this poem, gold is symbolized to mean wealth, beauty, and other precious objects in life, which helps support the theme.
Overall, there is evidence supporting that “Nothing Gold Can Stay” is a poem. It shows multiple examples of figurative language, imagery, and sound throughout the poem.
Answer:

In Romeo and Juliet, the nurse is a stock character and is not capable of understanding the love that Romeo and Juliet feel for each other. How is this evident in this scene?
Please help this is due today and giving brainliest to accurate and explained answer.
Answer:
Initially , Shakespeare conveniently conveys the nurses incapablity to understand the love Juliet feels towards Romeo, when the Nurse betrays Juliet, they have artificial trust and love between them as they slowly fall apart.
Fundamentally, Shakespeare dramatically depicts Juliet’s and the Nurse’s relationship simultaneously escorted by extinct memories of the past between the nurse and when Juliet was younger. The nurse and Juliet bonds, during when the nurse breast feeds Juliet acting as a mother figure in modern day society compared to Shakespearian time, when breast feeding from the biological mother was seen as a potential possibility of inflicting inerasable damage to the mother’s body. The nurse of lower status and no power taken care of Juliet ‘thou wast the prettiest babe that i e’er i nurse’ highlighting how much affection the nurse grips for Juliet. The essence of time between the nurse and Juliet depicts their relationship and memories, with slowly built their relationship and friendship over time.
Finally, the development purposely utilised the function from the Nurse when she betrays Juliet’s emotions and belief in the nurse. Shakespeare deliberately manifolds a distinguished trust, when a pivotal moment arise at the end of the act, deliberately adding Juliet’s independence and lonesomeness, after the nurse has asked Juliet to marry Paris, which is a mortal sin to marry twice ‘I think it’s best you marry with the County’ the nurse has turned away from Juliet to act upon her families wishes, this creates a atmosphere of anger and uncontrollable denial that the nurse would betray Juliet, the atmosphere contrasts into chaotic anger in Juliet.
Summarising this after effect, the nurse never understood Juliet’s mind even after being with Juliet for a long time. Their trust was morally based off time but not understanding, the nurse betrays Juliet by failing to recognise Juliet’s distress.

Answer:
Both independent and dependent clauses have a subject and verb.
Explanation:
An independent clause is a group of words or phrases that completes a thought and can stand on its own as a complete sentence.
On the other hand, a dependent clause is one where the thought is not complete and needs an independent clause to be considered a complete sentence.
But one thing common for both a dependent and an independent clause is that they both have a verb and a subject.

What is Markham's attitude toward the common man in his poem "The Man with the Garden Tool"?
Here is the entire poem:
The Man with the Garden Tool
WRITTEN AFTER SEEING MILLET'S WORLD-FAMOUS PAINTING
God made man in His own image;
in the image of God made He him. --Genesis.
Bowed by the weight of centuries he leans
Upon his garden tool and gazes on the ground,
The emptiness of ages in his face,
And on his back the burden of the world.
Who made him dead to rapture and despair,
A thing that grieves not and that never hopes,
Stolid and stunned, a brother to the ox?
Who loosened and let down this brutal jaw?
Whose was the hand that slanted back this brow?
Whose breath blew out the light within this brain?
Is this the thing the Lord God made and gave
To have dominion over sea and land;
To trace the stars and search the heavens for power;
To feel the passion of eternity?
Is this the Dream He dreamed who shaped the suns
And pillared the blue firmament with light?
Down all the stretch of the bad place to its last gulf
There is no shape more terrible than this—
More tongued with cries against the world's blind greed—
More filled with signs and portents for the soul—
More fraught with menace to the universe.
What gulfs between him and the seraphim!
Worker of the wheel of labor, what to him
Are Plato and the swing of Pleiades?
What the long reaches of the peaks of song,
The rift of dawn, the reddening of the rose?
Through this dread shape the suffering ages look;
Time's tragedy is in that aching stoop;
Through this dread shape humanity betrayed,
Plundered, profaned, and disinherited,
Cries protest to the Powers that made the world,
A protest that is also prophecy.
O masters, lords and rulers in all lands,
Is this the handiwork you give to God,
This monstrous thing distorted and soul-quenched?
How will you ever straighten up this shape;
Touch it again with immortality;
Give back the upward looking and the light;
Rebuild in it the music and the dream;
Make right the immemorial infamies,
Perfidious wrongs, immedicable woes?
O masters, lords and rulers in all lands,
How will the future reckon with this Man?
How answer his brute question in that hour
When whirlwinds of rebellion shake the world?
How will it be with kingdoms and with kings—
With those who shaped him to the thing he is—
When this speechless Terror shall reply to God,
After the silence of the centuries?
—Edwin Markham
