Answer:Lesson 2 into a speech. The second half of the assignment is to provide a works-

parenthetical citations in your essay so that sources match up with the entries on

your works-cited page.

To prepare your speech, you must boil down your essay into an outline. Your outline

can appear on sheets of paper, note cards, or some other medium. You'll then

present your information out loud to your classmates, using visual aids to help them

understand your argument and get them interested. The visual aids can be the same

ones that appeared in your essay, or you can use new ones.

Your speech should include the following elements:

• An introduction that grabs the audience's attention

• An outline that makes the information from the Lesson 2 essay easy for you to

remember when giving your speech

• Visual aids, such as graphs and charts, that make the speech clearer and more

engaging

• A works-cited page that lists the sources from your essay and follows MLA

The narrative essay is unusual for academic writing. It does not discourage academic writers from using their creative abilities, unlike an expository essay. Additionally, they are not required to undertake in-depth research or write with utmost objectivity. However, academic authors still need to adhere to the basic linguistic standards of academic writing, such as avoiding the use of slang and other "informal" linguistic characteristics. A. religious propaganda

B. suburban sprawl

C. Cold War paranoia

D. economic stability

Answers

Economic stability is one of the factors that contributed to the Baby Boom. Option D is the correct answer.

What was the baby boom?

Baby Boom refers to a significant increase in birth rates in the United States and other developed countries during the post-World War II period. Specifically, from 1946 to 1964, there was a notable increase in the number of babies born in the United States, with over 76 million people born during this period. The Baby Boom occurred due to a combination of factors, including economic prosperity, improved healthcare, and changing attitudes towards family and child-rearing. The return of millions of soldiers from the war and the availability of jobs and affordable housing also contributed to this trend. The Baby Boom had a significant impact on American society and culture, including the rise of suburbanization and the growth of the education and healthcare industries. Today, the Baby Boom generation remains one of the largest demographics in the United States, and their influence can still be felt in politics, economics, and social trends.

What is the exact process that transforms the child's utterances into grammatically correct, adult-like speech?

Answers

When it comes to the exact process that transforms the child's utterances into grammatically correct, adult-like speech, we can say the following:

Researchers still do not know what the exact process is. A lot of progress has been done when it comes to understanding how language acquisition functions, but not enough to know what that exact process is.

Several important psychologists and linguists have tried to figure out the mysteries of language acquisition over the past decades.

Some claimed it was a natural, intrinsic process, while others claimed that it was only learned through interaction with the external world.

A lot of progress has been made, and the influence of linguist Noam Chomsky is great to this day.

The general conclusion is that both nature (internal processes) and the environment (external factor) play an important part.

However, the exact process that transforms the child's speech into adult-like speech is still unknown.

Imagine that your local library has invited community members to submit proposals for a fundraiser. You are the student representative on the committee to choose the best proposal. Read the two proposals, paying close attention to their similarities and differences. Consider whether or not each proposal is logistically feasible, which fundraiser will most appeal to members of your community, and which fundraiser will likely raise more money.

Which proposal do you think the committee should choose? Write an essay in which you make a case for your choice. Support your argument with references to specific details in each proposal.

Proposal 1: The best way to get people invested in the library is to show them the joy of reading. For that reason, the library should hold a book sale. People could donate books that they no longer want, and the librarians could find books that the library no longer needs. Volunteers would need to sort the books into categories and arrange them in an inviting way, like at a bookstore. Books should be inexpensive so people will buy more of them – maybe fifty cents for paperbacks and two dollars for hardcover books. A book sale would appeal to people of all ages, from little kids to older people. There should also be a table where people can sign up for library cards. That way, if visitors do not find any books they want at the sale, they can come back to the library.

Proposal 2: A great way to make money for the library would be holding a car wash. The softball team at my school raised over $400 at their car wash last year! The car wash could be held in the library parking lot on a Saturday morning. You could ask local high school students to volunteer to wash the cars. That would be a great way to get students involved with the library. It takes two or three volunteers to wash a car quickly, so you would need at least ten volunteers. You could charge around ten dollars per car. Even people who are not very interested in reading like to have a clean car, so you would get a lot of people to stop by who might not otherwise come to a library fundraiser.

Answers

Answer:

Proposal 2

Explanation:

Proposal 2 would bring in more money for the library and would also give the local high school students a chance to do more for their community.

The car wash would not only bring in people who live in the area but also people who are just driving through, "Even people who are not very interested in reading like to have a clean car".

Although 10 dollars is a fair price to wash a car, I feel like the library would get more money if they do not set a set price and they let the customers decide how good of a job the students did, therefor if the volunteers only wash 5 cars that day, they only make $50 for the whole day, but if you let the customers decide how much they pay for the services you give them, the library could make way more money.

The proposal that the committee should choose is proposal 2.

From the information given, it should be noted that Proposal 2 would generate more money for the library.

A great way to make money for the library would be holding a car wash. Since the softball team at the school raised over $400 at their car wash last year, this is an avenue to raise more money. This will be important in getting the needed funds and achieving the aim.

Racing to Race

Carlo stopped to rest for a minute and tried to catch his breath. He’d been running for so long that he had pains in his side and his legs were beginning to hurt. He hunched over and tried to expand his lungs, but it was like trying to suck air out of a bicycle tire. His body was too exhausted to even allow him to take a deep breath, and he started to wheeze again.

“Great,” he thought, “let me just add asthma to my expanding list of ailments. I can’t believe that I can’t even jog two miles without completely collapsing!” He finally gave in to his aching body and laid down on the grass to recuperate. He closed his eyes and tried to imagine himself running on the school track in the 1,600-meter race. He pictured himself running steadily toward the finish line, running effortlessly like a cheetah in the jungle. He was so lost in thought that he didn’t even hear Meiya approach.

“Hey sleepyhead, what are you doing napping on Sean’s lawn in the middle of the day?” Meiya asked playfully.

Carlo quickly sat up, breathing normally now and feeling a little embarrassed. “I am trying to get in shape to try out for track, but I can’t even run two miles,” he said dejectedly.

“Wait, how many months are you out of surgery? Didn’t you just finish rehab last week?” Meiya asked. “You can’t expect to run two miles the first day.”

It had been six months since Carlo’s surgery and he specifically remembered the doctor telling him he could start running after six months. But he thought about what Meiya had said and realized she had a good point. After his surgery, the doctor did say rehab would be crucial to his recovery but that it would take time for him to gain back full use of his leg. He thought about how a baby had to learn to walk before it could run. He remembered when his nephew was learning to crawl; within days it seemed like he was walking. Running didn’t come right away, Carlo remembered. He realized it was the same with his therapy. The maximum he had run in the past month was one mile on the treadmill, so he realized that Meiya was probably right. He would have to work at building up his endurance and set more realistic goals for himself. As he thought about what he had already accomplished, he started to smile and felt like a weight was being lifted off his shoulders. He realized that he had run almost a mile and a half before his body started to protest and if he kept working hard, he could get back to where he was before his accident.

“Since when did you get so smart, Dr. Meiya?” he teased. “Do you want to race to the next mailbox?”

“You’re on!” she challenged and took off running at full speed.

Question 1
Part A

What is a central theme of “Racing to Race?”

Running a race is not always about winning.

Good things always come to those who wait.

A close friend is good medicine.

Recovery from a setback takes time and patience.
Question 2
Part B

Which statement best shows how the theme identified in Part A is developed in the story?

Carlo realizes that he may not be able to compete on the school track team but also discovers that, with time, he will still be able to participate in a sport he loves.

Carlo is discouraged that he has to rest after running a short distance, but Meiya reminds him that he has only just finished rehab.

Meiya knows that she is faster than Carlo, so she does her best to encourage him and also lets him win a race between them to boost his spirits.

Carlo pictures himself winning a big race on the school track team but then he realizes he may have developed asthma.

Explanation:

"I hope this helps, let me know if you need any more help"!

Answer:

It should come as no surprise that construction is a physically demanding job. Considerable strength and stamina are essential for carrying out many tasks on a job site. Almost 50 percent of construction jobs will require heavy lifting work and physical strength.  Workers will need to possess proper posture and form to effectively and safely conduct manual labor, both indoors and outdoors.  Along with physical strength, construction workers must have hand-eye coordination and dexterity. Construction jobs require sitting, lying, and standing for long hours. Limb coordination is needed to move both arms and legs quickly and accurately in any environment.  Construction work also requires excellent eyesight.  Technical knowledge is just as important as physical competence. About 36 percent of contractors fail due to a lack of adequate training and inexperience with particular types of work. Familiarity with the materials and tools needed to fill a wide range of construction services is invaluable to a worker’s skill set.
