I just heard about a great event that other cities are putting on, and I think Rockwood should, too. It is called Sunday Parkways, and it is a Sunday in the summer when whole neighborhoods are closed to cars. Only non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians are allowed. In other cities I have seen, people really get into the spirit of it. They play music and wear crazy makeup and costumes, and everyone has a blast, especially the kids. But the best part is that it brings the community closer together. People get to see and talk to their neighbors, and they often make new friends. At the end of the day, people feel energized and happy that they live in such a friendly town. Plus, it contributes to "greening" the city because everyone leaves their cars at home for the day. I think our city council should definitely consider putting on a Rockwood Sunday Parkways event.

what were some differences in Selma between life for African Americans and life for whites?

Answers

Answer:

African Americans were denied civil rights.

Explanation:

Although the discrimination in voting rights regarding race was forbidden by Civil Rights Act of 1964, only two percent of the black voters were registered in Selma because of the local authorities opposition to black voter registration campaign. In opposition to this, demonstrators rallying the 54-mile route from Selma to the state capital of Montgomery (on March of year 1965)  were challenged with lethal violence from state officials and white segregationist called the Selma to Montgomery March. This brought the racial segregation and discriminatory practices against the African Americans in contrast to their white counterparts, in the region.
